Although each poison dart frog has a different level of toxicity, it is the Golden Poison Frog that has the highest level. "In fact it is believed that this species is the most toxic vertebrate in the whole world!"

Do you know where the name originated? Find out in this book! Also learn where they live, their habitation, what they like to eat and how the brightness of their colors lets you know how poisonous they are. What is special about the Fire-bellied snake?

After the basics get ready to move on to more detailed information about each type. Photos are included. Learn how the parenting of the tadpoles by the parents is VERY different from "regular" frogs. 10 Fun Poison Dart Frog Facts presented at the end along with a glossary.

This is a very INFORMATIVE, well-written book for kids (and adults) to enjoy. Thanks, Liz

Interesting book that gives basic information about Poison Dart Frogs. They are found mainly in Central and South America. The brighter the color the more poisonous they are but they are small. Their poison was used by natives on their arrow tips. Poison Dart Frogs are protective of their young. They also are different in captivity than in the wild. Some are very aggressive. They live in different environments. No two are much the same. Worth the read. I like learning new stuff.

It's funny how things happen. I was in a book shop about 2 weeks ago just perusing when I overheard a mother asking for a book about frogs for her young daughter. The young daughter must have been about 3 I'd say. When the shop attendant asked whether she wanted picture sketches or real photos, the indication was photos.

I walked out of the shop with my wife and mentioned how funny it is that a young kid like that was interested in frogs. I had to find out what the fascination was and came across this book. I now understand. These are such fascinating facts and beautiful pictures presented in this book. I only wish I had seen it prior to me being in the shop that day. I would definitely have recommended it.

The author has done a great job.

I got the kindle version of this book because I love frogs! I also read to my granddaughter in the doctors office and the dentist office. We read almost everywhere we go and I never realized how many different poison frogs there are. I was very fascinated by the facts as well as the pictures in this book and my granddaughter was amazed as well. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone. Very interesting reading.

Informative with great photographs (and nice to see credit given to the photographers). The text is not for small kids, but good for older kids and adults.

What a lot of fun facts about these poison dart frogs with a picture of each one. A question for the author. You said that tribesmen had used their poison in or on their darts or arrows,
right? Will how did they get to the poison without being paralyzed or killed or seriously ill when they tried to get it?
For all these fun facts and photos I would like to give it five stars and recommend it for kids of all ages. I received this for free from " Daily Free Ebooks " and in return, here is my honest review. Great work Leanne! By Angela

The facts about these poisonous frogs are fascinating. The color photos add to the explanation of these tiny but deadly frogs. The photos of the tadpoles, as a way to explain the life cycle of frogs, were great. Children and adults will enjoy both the information and pictures.

Leanne Annett has once again brought the fascination of our world’s creatures to life, this time it’s one of Earth's most poisonous amphibian frogs. But don’t worry as Leanne points out, they are safe as pets – my kids are enthralled with their colorful designs that tell of a warning to predators and my youngest is quite spellbound as the tadpoles complete their change into fully formed frogs! Again a must read for kids to grow their understanding and intelligence!
