About Stanley PowerLock Tape Systems and BladeArmor Coating
With a classic design and updated features that add durability and performance, the PowerLock line of tape measures is the perfect balance between classic Stanley design and the best innovations in tool manufacture. BladeArmor coating is a patented industrial thermoplastic coating, the very same material that has been used to strengthen and protect aircraft parts, such as the rotor blades on the Sikorsky Black Hawk Helicopter. Simply put, it helps aircraft survive war zones, and it also helps tape blades survive construction zones. Applying BladeArmor coating to tape blades reduces both tape breakage and tape returns, enabling it to conquer the toughest testing ground of all -- the job site!

All the big box stores have is those stupid ergo-rubberized fat tapes
5 Stars
All the big box stores have is those stupid ergo-rubberized fat tapes
My 3rd of this type I just ordered again. All the big box stores have is those stupid ergo-rubberized fat tapes, or really crappy generic ones. Great for rough carpentry, but not for a welding/fab shop. I have used the last tape hard, every day for the last 5 years. Plus, nobody else in the shop uses this type so there is no doubt which is mine. The return spring and lock still work but I finally bent it and creased it and it cracked. After this much use, there really is no sense putting a refill in it and the label is worn off and it's pretty beat up and it really doesn't owe me anything by now. This type fits my hand the best for the type of work I do. I also hung drywall for 20 years and Stanley was the best of the no frills tapes. This fits the hand great for rip cuts with a utility knife, or drawing straight lines with a carpenters pencil. I hope they don't stop making this model because it doesn't have the fluff-appeal of the modern versions.I have included a photo so you can see the type of work it is used for, and how beat to heck the one I am finally retiring actually is.
