Tempting the Bodyguard (A Gamble Brothers Novel Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 1,495 ratings

He can protect her from everyone except himself.

Alana Gore is in danger. A take-no-prisoners publicist, her way with people has made her more than a few enemies over the years, but a creepy stalker is an entirely different matter. She needs a bodyguard, and the only man she can ask is not only ridiculously hot, but reputed to have taste for women that goes beyond adventurous.

Chandler Gamble has one rule: don't protect anyone you want to screw. But with Alana, he's caught between his job and his increasingly hard libido. On one hand, Alana needs his help. On the other, Chandler wants nothing more than to take the hot volcano of a woman in hand. To make her writhe in pleasure, until she's at his complete mercy.

She needs protection. He needs satisfaction. And the moment the line is crossed, all hell will break loose...

If you are into Jennifer Amenntrout or the series, or you are looking for a steaming hot story with a thriller edge, then this is a recommended book!-- "Fangs and Fairy Dust"

About the Author

#1 New York Times and USA TODAY Bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout lives in Martinsburg, West Virginia. All the rumors you've heard about her state aren't true. When she's not hard at work writing, she spends her time reading, working out, watching really bad zombie movies, pretending to write, and hanging out with her husband and her Jack Russell Terrier, Loki.

Her dreams of becoming an author started in algebra class, where she spent most of her time writing short stories...which explains her dismal grades in math. Jennifer writes young adult paranormal, science fiction, fantasy, and contemporary romance. She is published with Spencer Hill Press, Entangled Teen, Disney/Hyperion, and Harlequin Teen. She also writes adult and New Adult romance under the name J. Lynn for Entangled Publishing and HarperCollins.

Out of curiosity, I recently counted the number of JLA books I have read. That number is twenty five- holy crap twenty five! You would think that after that many books one would get tired of an author, but it just never happens. Each and every book of hers manages to grab me and hold me hostage. Tempting The Bodyguard was no exception.

I was actually a bit surprised by how much I loved this book. I’m not sure why, but I didn’t think I would love this one as much as the others in this series. Well, I was completely wrong. Turns out Tempting The Bodyguard was my favorite of the three. I loved the way Alana and Chandler played off one another and the romance was off the charts. The steam!!! *fans self* It was incredibly hot. It may be her hottest book yet. However, there was also more to it. There was substance and character growth and a touch of danger. It all blended together to make the best Gamble Brothers book yet.

I’m not going to lie; I was very leery about Alana. She was not the easiest character to like in Tempting The Player, and for good reason. I ended up loving Alana. I loved her determination and tenacity and I loved that underneath the façade she had flaws too. She was scared and commitment truly freaked her out. She latched on to her job and took it seriously because it was all she had. She didn’t believe in failing and that is something to be admired. It was interesting to have the woman be the one afraid of commitment, a bit of role reversal.

Chandler is my new favorite Gamble brother. My gosh. I think it was just how determined he was. He wanted something and he went for it; that was it. He was not one to mess around or deny his feelings. He didn’t play games. He saw Alana and he liked her and that was that, he went after her. He was also fiercely protective and sweet and cocky, but charming. It was all very endearing. He didn’t let his parent’s mistakes affect him and he made his own way in life. He put his brothers in their place when necessary and he was always there for Alana when she needed him (even when she denied that she needed him; Miss Controlling that she is). Everything about him just combined to make a great guy. And I just cannot help myself from stating this next sentence: Chandler can guard my body any day.

It was nice seeing the rest of the gang again and seeing how they are doing in life. Everyone is moving along and I just love seeing them living their happily ever after’s. I also loved that there was some mystery thrown in with the storyline. The focus was Chandler and Alana, but there was also the mystery of Alana’s stalker which gave the story just that much more.

Tempting The Bodyguard was a great read and fans of the series will not be disappointed. Chandler and Alana have fantastic banter and fantastic chemistry. Do not miss this one.

Back in September 2015 I listened to half of Tempting the Bodyguard, but for some reason never got back to it. In February, I decided it was time to finish the book and did so in one day. Even though there was a good five months since I last put the book down, I was able to pick right up where I left off and enjoyed the rest of the story. It had some intense moments, but I enjoyed the growing attraction between Alana and Chandler, even though they were in denial in regards to their feelings toward one another.

Tempting the Bodyguard is the third book in the Gamble Brothers series and even though I haven’t read the previous books it was easy to pick this one up, as each book features a different brother. In this read it features the oldest brother Chandler, who has always looked out for his younger brothers and has finally found his match in Alana, his brother’s ex-publicist, who has come to him for his help after she has had threats made against her.

I liked seeing the attraction between Chandler and Alana as it grew slowly. They were both facing a serious problem, but each new threat brought them closer. Alana was afraid of getting too close to him and constantly tried to pull back, but Chandler was always there trying to keep her within his clutches. I enjoyed the intensity of the threats always being there too.

I don’t often listen to a lot of stories from the third person perspective lately, but I enjoyed how this story was told. It switched to each character, so I could get their perspective and see how they were feeling about one another. It was also the first book I listened to a book narrated by Kaleo Griffith, and I really liked how he told Chandler and Alana’s story. There was plenty of emotion in his voice and the story flowed smoothly.

Just like any book of Jennifer’s that I pick up, I was quickly swept away by her magnificent writing style. She has a way of capturing the reader so that it feels like you are right there with the characters, experiencing the danger and their emotions. I liked how I didn’t have to read the other books in the series to understand this one too. It was a fantastic read and now I want to go back and catch up on the first two books in the series.

J. Lynn or Jennifer L. Armentrout can write a cook book and I will love it, I'm sure. I love her prose and find all her heroes very likable. I have a little problem with the brazen collection, though. Even super talented writers such as Jennifer seems a little rushed and something always sounds a little off because of that. Other than that, this book is really good. I suggest you read the first two books before reading this one, though. READ.THIS.BOOK!

4.0 out of 5 stars Un dernier tome intéressant
