About this item
- A GAME OF DECEPTION: Skull is a fun party game of bluffing, deducing, and out-thinking your friends. If you want to best your opponents, you must bluff, lie and pierce the deceptions that surround the flowers.
- STRATEGY GAME: Each turn, you may either add another disc to your pile or bet how many flowers you can reveal without revealing a skull. Be wary — if you reveal a skull, the consequences are dire! If you succeed at your bet, you gain a point, and two points wins the game!
- CHALLENGING & COMPETITIVE: Practice your bluffing skills by trying to catch the other players with your skull. But you can be sure your opponents won’t just let that happen. Keep your cards to the bitter end to win this game of deception and perception.
- EASY TO LEARN: An ancient game of ornate skulls and deceptive flowers, Skull is simple to learn, but dangerously difficult to win and extraordinarily difficult to master.
- NUMBER OF PLAYERS AND AVERAGE PLAYTIME: This exciting game of deception for adults and teens is designed for 3 to 6 players and is suitable for ages 13 and older. The game takes approximately 30 minutes to play.

The rules are simple, and quick to pick up, such that a single 2-minute practice round has everyone immediately in the right mindset. There are a surprisingly great number of strategies to be played, for such a simple game, so every person you play with is a new challenge. There's no staleness. The game is quick, easy to play just once before a longer game, or half a dozen times to fill an evening with good company.
The feeling of turning over that final flower after a seemingly insane bid, or having your skull turned over when the challenger almost has the game clinched, is indescribable. Lots of laughs, exhileration, and fun.
On top of all of that, the game is gorgeous. Wonderful representations of six different cultures, beautiful and geometric in design. The cards have already taken a bit of a beating in the three months I've owned them, but only on the face side, so it doesn't impact play.
Very worth it.
It's straightforward, the rules are simple enough, but my god is it difficult to truly get the hang of. You need to know your opponents well and be able to keep a straight face while simultaneously trying to sabotage your enemies and earn points yourself.
The art on the tokens are always a conversation starter as well, with each color being associated with a different culture and art style, along with each one having their own flower on 3 of the 4 tokens.
Overall a beautiful game that's well made and will hold up for a long time to come.
Games are quick. Generally you’re looking at 15-20 mins each. Each player gets four discs. Three have flowers, one has a skull. When it comes around to your turn you can secretly play a disc (either kind) or start the bidding. When you bid you’re bidding how many flowers you can flip over one at a time without finding a skull. The catch? You have to flip over all of your own, first! So playing flowers is the only way to actually win, but it also allows your opponents to potentially win. So there’s lots of false bidding (where someone puts down a skull and bids anyhow to drive the bid up while looking safe) and bluffing and mind games flying fast. Be successful flipping over flowers twice and you win. Find a skull and you’ll lose a disc. You can win with the least number of discs at the table and you can lose with all your discs still in-hand.
The box comes with enough discs (and coasters to track whether you’ve won a round yet or not) for six people. Could you technically play this with red/black poker cards? Yes. ...but I’ll fly and travel with these discs ANY DAY of the week. (And I’m a magician, so I always have cards on me already!) The tactile feel of the chunky discs and the truly sublime artwork elevates this game from a fantastic bit of fun to an unforgettable, incredible experience. Look, it’s not cheap for a game that’s only giving you 30 pieces of cardboard and a short booklet of rules, but if my set got ruined tomorrow I’d buy another in a heartbeat.
The premise is simple: don't pick up a skull.
However, the gameplay thickens as players have to place bids on how many non-skull cards they can draw in a row. Bidding continues until no one wants to top that number, and then the guesser flips over the agreed-upon amount of cards. If they're wrong (and draw a skull), they lose a card at random from their hand of 4 cards (3 neutral cards and a skull card)—so you only have 4 incorrect guesses before you're out of the game. If they guess correctly (and don't draw a skull), they get a point—and it only takes 2 points to win. It sounds easy enough—but it quickly becomes a mind game, where you are trying to figure out when/where everyone is playing their skull cards.
The game has been a little hard to explain, but it's one of those where once your friends play a practice round, everything clicks and immediately makes sense. There are a lot of little rules and technicalities, but I'm also realizing I need to find a better way to explain it...so maybe that falls on me. :)

The legend has it that Hells Angels use this game to choose their new leader one the old one dies. If that is true, it is the perfect game for it.
This game is aimed at young adults up (The box has 14+ in the UK or 10+ if you are in France, I think there is some discrimination going on right there!) and can be played by anyone.
It's quick and simple to learn to play and once you get the hang of it you can start to twist the knife into the backs of your loved ones!
The premise is that you have a point mat, if you turn it twice you win. You have 5 cards, 4 roses and 1 skull. You put the cards down in turn and then when at least one round of everyone laying a card has happened you can vote to call how many roses you can turn over. You start with all your cards then can choose who else to turn over. It's quick and simple, addictive and brutal. The people you think you knew are better liars than you realised!
The cards a beautifully printed and solid. It's small and portable and played with a minimum of 3 people. It's better if you can do the full 6 as it adds more to the lying element, but however many you can get to join in, you will have so much fun doing it.
For those that don't like board games, it's perfect as there are limited parts, limited rules it lasts 15-20 mins at most (maybe 30 mins with 6) and can be picked up and put down as you fancy.
It is inexpensive and there are multiple print runs of this game with lovely imagery. It is also known as Skulls and Roses in some print runs. So I say just go for it. It doesn't take up much space but is first class in replayability.
