Do not buy anything from Lorex, it only works under warranty, after that it will die on you, i bought this system couple years ago and right after the warranty ended, it stopped working. I followed all kinds of trouble shooting instruction, talked to the tech specialist and finally it never works again. Lorex closed the claim case without helping me. I want to buy products that last not this piece of junk. Be aware, if i can give this junk half a star i will bc it deserves

I bought this security camera mainly to catch the bad guys' image if they do anything to my car parked in my driveway at nighttime. I am very disappointed on the purchase of this camera as a result. The picture quality of this camera during daytime is really HD quality. However, once it has turned dark, its quality is below standard and in fact I'd say it is not acceptable with its price. On playing back the recording, I cannot even tell if there is anybody by the end of my van on the driveway while my van is parked only about 5 feet from the camera. Even I have a senor floodlight turned on! I used to use a wirelss Securityman camera before buying this one. It's daytime picture is not good as this one but nighttime is a lot better than it. Now, I have to install the Securityman wireless camera next to this camera for nighttime monitoring...!! With this Securityman camera, I can even see the car parked across the street under the same illumination.

If you are buying this camera mainly for the same purpose as mine, I absolutely do not recommend it.

Lorex is a quick and relatively easy set up. Running cables is always a problem as is drilling a hole into the house. But the worst part is the technical support group. The manual is thick but missing some important data on movement, resetting, etc. Tech Support is probably the biggest issue with the Lorex Install. Other than that, I can find the site on my phone, laptop and desktop. And can now search for movement from the remote site. Cameras are relatively low grade with no pan, tilt or zoom but work well enough to see distance and are clear.

Easy to set up and install.
Works ok both in the day and night. The cameras work but the resolution is not good enough to be able to read license plates.
The recorder works ok but is a little tricky to find the time you are looking for, it goes in 15 minute increments.
After purchasing found same system for as much as 100 dollars less elsewhere.
For a basic system guess it is ok.

Positives: For the price I thought it was going to be more mickey-mouse but it is great. The cameras work great and during the day I can actually see all the way to the road. Had problems with a yellow bug light on the front porch because that cam was pointed almost at it but after I added a yellow bug spot light to the dusk to dawn light on the other side and turned off the porch light you can actually see a quarter laying in front of my car at night. Awesome! Even with the port forwarding DVD I had trouble getting it set up to view on my Android phone but one call to the tech support and they undid all I had done wrong. Love the product and now feel much better about the safety of my home when I travel.

Negatives: If there is one single thing I would change it would be the size of the connectors, you have to drill a larger hole than I would like for such a thin cable to pass through then fill in the gaps with mortar or caulk. (small price to pay??)

I receive one single camera instead of the whole set that I thought I purchased. It has been a nightmare. The vendor Dependable Resourse was advertising the whole system for one price and shipped one camera instead. An inventory error is what they said and they don't even carry the advertised item "Lorex ECO 4 Channel Security DVR with 4 Indoor/Outdoor Security Cameras" this has been very disapponting experience.

I am having a hard time getting someone on the phone and after waiting 20+min. someone comes on and ask me to leave my # so a tech can return my call. When they finally returned the call it was as if I should know this tech stuff and they were ready to get off the phone. Also the cameras are not capturing snapshots to send to email for alert of motion detection when I know they should because I am in front of the camera for extended period of time. Would not have bought this if I knew it was so involved with no good customer service to answer questions.
