As Gerald is down and out he comes across a little cricket who inspires him to believe in himself. Shows children no matter how small we are we can encourage positive feelings for others. As Gerald shows off his new hidden talent that believing and learning that he can do something, he proves to the jungle how good he is and they tell him how good he is after they were so mean to him. Absolutely wonderful feeling left in the air after reading. Our elementary students love this story as much as I do. Brings good discussion to the class as well.
