If you like Star trek or Catan, you'll love this game! My husband, friends and I have played this game many times since I purchased it. The character cards add a whole new feel to the game. It's a lot of fun and beautifully made. Quality pieces and art work. It does take a bit longer to play, due to the addition of the character cards. Other than that, same awesome game play as Settler's of Catan. Highly recommend! :)

Original Review, December 21, 2016 -
I bought this for my husband for Christmas. We haven't opened or played it yet, but I am super excited to. We love the original Settler's of Catan and my husband is a big fan of Star Trek. Should prove to be a great game we play over and over with each other and our friends! Shipping was quick and product was packaged well. No damage to the item (on the outside).
The gameplay is very similar to the original. (keep in mind that everyone always has some sort of "house rules" that they abide by. The biggest addition I noticed were the character cards with usable abilities. These were pretty darn handy (things like, move the Klingon ship to a space of your choice if you did not get any resources on your turn). They are usable up to 2 times and then the card is recycled. Anywho! I absolutely love it and the design is just a blast. You get to build starships and starbases! Who doesn't want to do that?!

I have one complaint: the pieces are, by far and away, the most inconvenient of any Catan game ever. Each road ("USS Enterprise"), settlement ("Outpost"), and city ("Space Station") requires a little stand that must be manually inserted in order to remain upright. It's not a big deal, but it is annoying.
It takes a bit of time to get used to the new resources and lingo for settlements, cities, and the like, but you quickly draw parallels between the new resources/buildings and the ones used in the standard version that helps players adapt.
What impressed me the most were the figurines used for outposts, space stations, and shipping routes. It's a very big difference from the wooden monopoly-esque pieces from the standard version.
Bottom line: You don't have to be a Star Trek fan to enjoy the game, but if you are then this will definitely please your inner-nerd.
The only drawback is that there is not an expansion yet, so games are limited to four players which tends to be a problem in my circle because we normally have 4-6 people at a time who want to play.

Bons jeux !
Game is amazing. A must for ALL Catan and Star Trek fans.
Star Trek: Catan is 95% Settlers of Catan, with Star Trek dressing. Resources are dilithium, tritanium, food, oxygen and water. Starships instead of roads. Outposts instead of settlements, Starbases instead of cities. On a resource dice roll of 7, a Klingon ship swoops in to prevent resource production on one planet while taxing spacegoers who hold too many resources (instead of a robber baron, like in the original Settlers).
Star Trek: Catan differs from the basic Settlers in one aspect: a set of Support Cards featuring a few familiar faces from the original series of Star Trek. Each Support Card features a special ability attributed to Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Sulu, Scott, Uhura, Chekov, Chapel, Rand, or Sarek. Some special abilities make basic actions better, such as reducing the costs of Starbase upgrades or allowing the player to trade a resource of their choice at 2:1 for a turn, while others break rules, such as protecting the player from discarding on a 7 or producing a resource when the player rolls a number that wouldn't otherwise produce for them.
These Support Cards make this game such an addictive new slant on an old favourite! They definitely change the game's dynamics and make for much more compelling game play.
