Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

At the current difficulty one of these drives should mine 300 Burst Coin. It makes 6 dollars worth of Burst. It may not sound much, but you would know that the whole market is down if you follow crypto coins. So 3 months ago it was making 18 USD for one month. At the current price it will pay itself in 4 years. If market was not down, roi would be 1.5 years. Or you may use these drives for one year and consider your earnings as discount. Or you just hold your coins as investment and sell at a higher price. It's up to you. I just wanted to let you know that you can make use of available free space. It's better than just sitting, let your disk work! ;)
But average Joe should stay away from Seagate hard disk drives. It takes long time to prepare your drive for mining.
However there's been a steady increase of bad sectors in two drives over the past couple months in addition to frequent disconnects. They were occurring more frequently over the last couple days (they both crossed 1000 bad sectors just yesterday). Luckily I bought two 4TB Red drives recently to upgrade the NAS so I swapped them in and the Volume was able to rebuild successfully.
It's disappointing that 2 out of the 5 drives I initially bought began giving trouble so soon (I plugged one of them into a HDD dock and I actually began hearing grinding noises so it's safe to assume that one's properly failing) but of course that's just luck sometimes and I won't hesitate to purchase more of these Red drives. I'd like to set up some IP cameras for surveillance soon so I hope the 6TB drops in price in a couple of months.
