Take your photos and videos to the next level

Why do photos and videos shot with a Nikon HD-SLR look so good? It all starts with Nikon’s exclusive image sensors, and the D3200 has the most powerful CMOS sensor we’ve ever put in a HD-SLR at this level. Boasting an astounding 24.2 effective megapixels, it captures sharper, richer images—even in low light. Combine that with EXPEED 3 image processing, the processing power behind the acclaimed Nikon D4, for super-fast operation, exceptional image capture, in-camera filter effects and more. Your photos and videos will amaze even you.

Master the camera simply by using it

It’s never been easier to create HD-SLR quality photos, thanks to the D3200’s Guide Mode. Learn the camera's key features and controls while you shoot, and even get advice and sample images to succeed in difficult shooting situations. Guide Mode is easy to access and easy to understand. You’re never shooting alone with the D3200.

Create cinema-quality HD videos

Nikon is committed to developing HD-SLRs that are not just superlative still image cameras, but superlative video cameras, as well. Choose from six common Scene Modes like Portrait, Night Portrait, Landscape, Close up and more, for flawless results even in demanding circumstances. When using Live View, Scene Auto Selector automatically sets the D3200 for the most suitable Scene Mode for the situation. A highly accurate 420-pixel RGB sensor powers Nikon's Scene Recognition System, which compares scene data against an extensive database to optimize the shot accordingly.

Friendly Camera!
After debating whether to go with Canon T4i, Pentax X5, and the D3200, I was sold on the idea that D3200 comes in "red" - no, seriously. As my wife and I have no idea how to use a SLR camera. We have always bought Canon point and shoot cameras and have never use any of the dials other than "Auto". But we decided that it's time for a SLR since we are expecting our first "little monster" in a couple of months in order to capture those special moments. We had no idea about the specs except that there seems to be a war between the "Canon" people vs. "Nikon" people. All of the cameras sound pretty much the same for us so we based our decision mainly based on the camera being red; and friends have made fun of me since.I was always impress with the posted pix from Amazon users...especially the "bokeh" (blurry background) pixes and that was the first thing I wanted to do when I received the camera two days ago. In short, the camera is very easy to use. I was able to do a "bokeh" in less than an hour by just dialing the selector to "Guide" and following the instructions on the LCD, and still I don't know what is aperture, "F", or anything like that. I truly believe that this camera has enough functions for you to delve into and take shots that are as professionals as some of the ones that are posted here; all it takes is practice!!!I am sure if I had bought the Canon or Pentax, I would still be blown away from coming from a point and shoot camera. I really think any one of the cameras would suffice and I think it all come down to preference. For us, it was the color "red" because we were tired researching. If there are any suggestions I can give, I would say go find a camera and put it in your hands for the look and feel to see if it's suitable.I also want to give props to Roberts Inc. (Amazon Marketplace Vendor) for their quick delivery and service. Roberts Inc was one of the few that had red in stock. I was hesitate to buy it from then since I have not heard of them; but they were great!!!My sample pix is on page 5 of 5;)
