Size: The size of the crab's body is roughly 3.5" tall x 4" wide and if you add in the claws, the crab is about 5.5" wide.

Cleaning: This is "Tinplated steel" not stainless. Do NOT put it in the dishwasher - it will rust. Hand wash and dry quickly. Very quickly.

Cookies! : This makes nice big sugar cookies and they are so cute! My daughter found an Alton Brown sugar cookie recipe and made an entire batch of crab cookies which she iced red. They were so cute and tasty. Note: the claws are a bit thin and break off easily. Thankfully losing a claw did not render any of the cookies inedible and the broken claw cookies were in no way discriminated against - we ate them all equally.

This is a heavy duty cookie cutter and would work for almost any type of dough. I do wish the claw joints were just a hair thicker and I would pay more for a stainless steel version of this. Even so, this is a sturdy fun cookie cutter worthy of the best cookie dough!

Beware Design Issue For This Crab

I was very excited to make these cookies for my daughter's beach wedding . Except--this crab cookie cutter has a design flaw. The claws are constantly breaking off. They may break off after you have cut them out, or when you put them on the cookie sheet, or when they have finished baking, or before you decorate them, after you decorate them and are placing them on a display plate! It takes so much time and effort to make rolled out cookies and to have these claws fall off constantly is beyond frustrating. Don 't buy these cookie cutters--there is a design issue.
