I'm not a pro photog and I don't make money from my images. I do, however, love to take photos and have a blast doing so. My images are used in marketing collateral and make the rounds on social media. For my needs, this lens is fantastic - I do architectural and yacht photos and that is where this lens shines. Should the average person spend $3k on a lens - no. If you are not doing architectural photos (especially interiors), don't bother blowing the money. If you do have need for a good architectural lens, this is fantastic. Holy wow is it wide. You will notice that things nearest the edges to get stretched - that's how perspective works.
Build quality is excellent - it's a major lump of glass. If you're looking for filters for it, stop wasting your time. The front lens is radiused and will not accept typical filters.

Superb specilty lens
Picked this lens up for shooting small spaces and was not disappointed. It made the Paris Catacombes look roomy. There is stretching along the edges that needs to be considered, especially if the picture includes people. This is a result of having 126° diagonal viewing angle--it is ultra-wide. Although great for small space I've also achieved some interesting effects shooting large objects close up. I would not consider this a general purpose lens that could be used everyday, but a unique specialty lens for small spaces or artistic shots.Image quality is what I expect from an L-series lens--top of the line. Zoom control is smooth, focus quick. Lens is heavier--to be expected with all the glass inside. Finding a place to put the lens cap can be a drag as, unlike a normal lens cap, you cannot just put it in your pocket. It goes on and off easily enough and pretty secure. Other than the size I have no complaints about the lens cap.
