First I'd like to thank the individual(s) who designed the case. It opens and closes effortlessly and logically stores the tools. Th pivoting bit holder is a nice touch. This is a very well thought out, engineered and manufactured case.
Now as for the tools themselves - everything one could need working on iPhones, etc. is included. The bits are quality and stay in the handle. As the aluminum handle retains the bits magnetically, there is a bit of residual magnetism transferred to the tips of the bits which is quite nice for keeping screws attached upon removal as well as when screwing them back in. Each bit is marked (think: stamped/engraved). The black plastic bit holder is white ink imprinted with the locations of each size bit.
If you have a workbench "peg board" in which you insert hooks/hangers ... a nice touch is the case has an opening at the top which allows it to be hung on your bench/back board.
The aluminum screwdriver handle pivots just like a jewelers screwdiver and has three balck rubber O-rings affixed near the tip which can help one's grip when turning the bit.
A suction cup is provided and well retained within the case as is everything else ... hard for something to fall out. Due to the method with which the suction cup is retained, the cup is a little distorted. No problem - I've experienced this before with other suction cups (such as the one I use on a telescopic pole to replace overhead light bulbs) and the solution is to always run the cup under warm to hot water as doing so removes the distortion PLUS improves the cup's holding power. The spudgers worked well and helped get the OEM battery free.
On removing the iPhone 5 from it's Otter Box protective case I had an unusually harder time separating the Otter Box case halves. I noticed the phone's glass screen was lifted a bit along the left side (volume key edge) and first thought this happened while parting the Otter's case halves. In retrospect I now believe it was the swollen OEM battery lifting the screen. Consequently removing and tilting up the screen was effortless. There was no need to disconnect the iPhone 5 screen, I just kept it tilted upright during the task at hand.
I'm a tool nut and it takes a lot to get me excited over simple tools, so if you are looking for a very nicely packaged, quality set of tools - I highly recommend this product.
So, after stripping half of the screws with the horrible, dull, not-nearly-sharp-enough Philips 00/000 screwdriver that came from a 1.99 (including shipping) screen tool replacement kit, I came to my senses and looked on Amazon for a decent tool kit. Ergo, Bonafide Hardware. Also, a screw replacement kit.
I received the toolkit super fast (thanks, Amazon Prime!) and was immediately surprised by how NICE the tool pieces were. The interchangeable screwdriver heads(?) easily pop in and out of the metal handle, and look like they are some precision machined tools. I was amazed at how quickly and easily the itty bitty awful iPhone screws came out (< 7 seconds) whereas I previously had been spending several anxious minutes trying to remove ONE screw with the horrible cheap auction-house-direct-from-China/California smart phone repair kit.
In a word, you get what you pay for.
Now, in my case I only needed the pentalobe and Philips 000 screwdriver heads, red pry tool and suction cup. This was fine for opening/repairing an iPhone 5s. And the screen looked beautiful! Amazing!
Too bad it didn't work, because I had gotten the replacement screen from that same auction site as well. So! I should have probably also gotten my replacement screen from Amazon as well. At this point, I gave up and went to the Apple store and waited FOREVER because I had neglected to make an appointment at the Genius Bar. For your convenience and sanity, please make an appointment if you are going to the Apple store to get your smartphone fixed, because they absolutely put walk-ins at the bottom of their priority list. But be careful too, because when I got my phone back, there was a spot on the screen from an improperly placed screw. Which I spent another half an hour waiting for a "technician" (snort) to fix.
note: I paid FULL BOAT RETAIL for this kit and I am giving my honest and unbiased review anyway! Don't be cheap, just buy the proper tools from the get go and don't risk breaking something essential like a ribbon cable because you are tired and frustrated from something that should be simple, like removing some stupid screws.
