Terrible product. Silicone disintegrates from exposure to heat within specified range!

Terrible product. Silicone disintegrates from exposure to heat within specified range!
Much as I'd love to be able to give this product a good rating, both because it's a great idea and also in view of my support of Catalonia in its righteous quest for independence (I know this is besides the point, but still), the product frankly failed outright under normal use in less than a year.I am an avid baker and used these molds just about weekly, in fact sometimes multiple times per week, over the last year. The concept greatly appealed to me: the ceramic bases give your bread or pastry heat from below to help with oven spring, while the silicone sides are easy to pop off by simply removing the pin that holds them together. The first issue I had with this product, however, was that the ceramic bases, unlike the non-stick sides, require you to grease them so your baked goods don't stick. However, the seal against the silicone is flimsy, which causes the oil or butter used to grease the ceramic to drop down through the grommet and along the bottom of the ceramic base, thenceforth onto the bottom of your oven, causing smoke and unwanted odors. This was a nuisance, but I learned to use just the right amount of oil or butter after a while so as to avoid this issue. However, what is simply unforgivable is that the silicone itself began to literally crack and disintegrate after just a year of normal use. I followed all temperature threshold indications and always washed the item after each use, but even so it began to flake into pieces around the bottoms, again where the oil drips through the loose seal between the ceramic base and the silicone mold.So now these molds are useless. I caution prospective buyers to look elsewhere. There are alternative molds that are solid silicone which I'm looking into myself, but in any case spare yourself the letdown of this faulty product. And I do hope Lékué will invest in a superior heat-resistant silicone in the future!

This turned out to be one of my favourite new purchases! It does exactly what it's supposed to, but even more efficiently, and with such ease due to the silicone. I love the shape, might not go back to rounds :) and the plate it comes with is great to serve in and more elegant than metal ones.
I have used a LOT of pans and this is by far the best I've used. I would highly recommend it, and at this price point, you should pick up several. The quality was supreme!

Perfect for the pate that I was making and did not want to invert - I was able to set the pate mousse and then pour over the port jelly to firm up before un-molding. The ceramic base is nice enough to serve on.

I love that you can serve the cake on the ceramic platter, I gave it 4 stars because it expands in the middle part.

The idea for this pan might be good, but the actual design is mortally flawed: The pans leak!

The problem is the shape of the bottom plate. It is not straight rectangular as the product image might lead you to believe: In fact it is wider in the middle, and on top of that the edges are round. As a result the silicone does not seal the plate adequately around the bottom edge, and the shape of the plate pulls the front seal (where the pin holds it together) apart. So if whatever you use the pan for is only a little bit liquid then it leaks around the bottom, and through the front.

In a sentence, the pan is unusable for anything except solid dough.

3.0 out of 5 stars As described but didn't cook the middle in my dual cook microwave
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on July 29, 2018
This product was as described but what I didn't understand prior to buying it was that if silicone dishes are used in the dual cook microwave oven often the middle doesn't cook. I have used it once, the outside was perfect, middle third had not cooked. I have since bought a bundt silicone cake to hopefully prevent this issue- it has not arrived yet.

Other customers have mentioned the mix leaked. It didn't for me. No issues with the fit. The three components fitted well together.

I have not tried this in an oven as I don't have one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buen molde y comodo.
Reviewed in Spain on January 11, 2017

5.0 out of 5 stars diese Porzellan- mit Silikonrand- Backformen sind wirklich die besten
Reviewed in Germany on November 11, 2015
