  • Iconic Design: Originally created to meet the demanding needs of forward-deployed military personnel, it incorporates all the best elements of Spyderco's unmistakable style while exemplifying our commitment to "Reliable High Performance."

Military Model

Signature Made USA Model

A cornerstone in Spyderco's Save and Serve line up, the Military Model came about after someone asked Spyderco's owner Sal Glesser, "If your son were going into the military what folding knife would you send him with?" For certain, it had to meet the requirements of a high-performance, light-weight folder designed for hard use. Since the steel is the spirit of the knife, CPM S30V and CPM S110V seemed the logical choice for the blade given its reputation for long-term edge retention and rust resistance. The 'Millie' has a modified clip-point blade laser cut with a 14 mm Spyderco Round Hole for quick deployment and for use with gloves.

Texturing above the hole holds the thumb in contact with the blade's spine during cutting for confident control over the sharpened edge. The handle scales are G-10 with the lock's liner nested directly into the scale, pumping up lock strength without the addition of bulky liners.

Spacers between the scales create a gap running the handle's full length exposing the inside workings for inspection and cleaning. The handle flares slightly at the front end creating a finger choil and at the butt end, keeps the knife from slipping forward or backward in the hand while sawing or making tough or aggressive cuts. A contoured black metal clip is set for right-hand tip-down carry.

By far best EDC folder I’ve ever owned

By far best EDC folder I’ve ever owned
By far best EDC folder I’ve ever owned. This was my first spyderco and when I received it I thought I might have wasted my money because at first it’s seemed just too big for an EDC. I couldn’t have been more wrong. It’s been almost 2 years and I’ve carried it every day and it still operates flawlessly. Blade still locks up tight, is perfectly centered and has no wobble. I can deploy and put away one handed just as fast as any other blade I’ve had (even assisted opening knives). The edge retains surprisingly well considering it gets put to use multiple times a day- an average day can consist of opening boxes to de-burring conduit to cutting lengths of rope and then cutting my steak for dinner and it continues to keep a good edge with little maintenance. As far as the size I now can’t downsize to a smaller blade as it would limit tasks I could effectively do with it and because the g10 scales are light even though it’s big it isn’t heavy so I hardly notice it in my pocket. The only gripe I can say about the knife is the pocket clip is a little soft in my opinion. I do find that every few months I do need to take the clip off and re bend it so it is tight in my pocket. I periodically used to carry a lot of my previous knives on the outside of my pocket hanging by the clip if my pockets were full, but because of the clip, I don’t do that with the spyderco military. To sum it all up by far the best folder I’ve ever owned, was so impressed, I have even bought some other spyderco models, but they just didn’t come close to the military so this is the one. Now I just have this internal struggle because even though I’m positive it will last me a decade, I’m compelled to by a back up just in case I lose it, or if it ever does wear out or break I have another one even if the model is discontinued****update****So it’s been 4-1/2 years since I got the knife and opinion still hasn’t changed. In fact I did order a spare just in case and I did loose one of them…..and I just ordered a replacement spare. I am a knife guy and always have one on me, and have since tried the para 2, the BM 940 Osbourne, a microtec, and some fixed blades (including esee, bradford, bark river and white river all in the 3”-4” range which for some days edc come in handy) but yet to find anything that I like better. The steel works perfect for my edc. It holds an edge more than long enough, is plenty tough to trim meat off the bone at dinner time, strip wire at work, and wack staples in boxes I’m opening and come away every time chip free. The handle has tons of real estate and the ergos are good enough for any grip I’ve had to use and the “Chili’s” at both the top and bottom of the blade along with the aggressive but yet not hotspot creating and comfortable jimping allows you to get up close and controlled in precision work…..hands down the best knife I’ve owned. Granted for specific tasks you will always find a knife that is built better for certain stuff but for everyday carry that has to handle everything that I throw at it really good- I’d say you can’t beat the spyderco military, in fact if I was forced to get rid of all my knives but one then this would be the one I kept……unless the world gets thrown into an apocalyptic downward spiral and we are all forced to live off the land in the wild, then I’d probably go with a larger fixed blade, but for the average modern society working class man like myself I haven’t seen any better options
