Thor
The head sculpt and paint of this figure is really nice. The helmet covers down to the nose, with nice details on the wings on the side of the helmet. Her eyes are painted white, with black around them for a nice effect. She seems to have a little bit of red lips, but not as much as to be distracting. Her hair is painted yellow, but without any dirt wash it looks plain. The body sculpt and paint is just as awesome looking. The breast plate is plain silver, but I like the simplicity. She wears a red cape hanging from a silver collar, and a brown cape hanging from her belt, with a front dark brown covering. Both of these are separate pieces and can be moved to accommodate for posing. She also wears silver anklets with wings which are separate pieces. She has sculpted light brown wrappings on her legs, down to the silver armored shoes. Overall, she is sculpted muscular, but feminine.
Articulation:
- ball-jointed,
- ball-hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows,
- ball-jointed torso,
- ball-jointed hips, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees and rocker-hinged ankles
The articulation on this figure is really good. She has no articulation on the wrists, but this doesn't hinder posing her at all. She poses really nice, even as the red cape is heavy on this figure. However, the cape also helps as a third leg to help her stand.
Accessories
- Mjolnir
Mjolnir is really nicely sculpted and painted, with even the inscription on the hammer. However, she can only wield her Mjolnir on the left hand as her right hand is sculpted on a fist.
Odinson
The head sculpt and paint of this figure is really, really bad. Not in the sense that it is badly sculpted or painted, but the expression of the face is awful. In addition, his jaw is very prominent, which would explain why growing a beard is so desirable for Odinson. His hair is light brown; plain, but OK. The body sculpt and paint is much better than the face, but almost anything would. He wears a red cape hanging from a strap, with a fur over his right shoulder. He also wears a belt with loin covering and a loop on his right for the axe. These are a separate pieces. He has sculpted brown wrappings on his legs, and painted red and black bracelets. The wrappings are nice, but the painted bracelets are just plain. He is sculpted muscular overall, as he should.
Articulation:
- ball-jointed,
- ball-hinged shoulders, ball-hinged elbows,
- ball-jointed torso,
- ball-jointed hips, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees and rocker-hinged ankles
The articulation on this figure is good. He has no articulation on the bicep, which would hinder some poses with the battle axe. However, he still poses well, and the cape doesn't bother him much.
Accessories
- Battle Axe
The battle axe is also really nicely sculpted and painted, showing silver for the blade, brown for the handle and cream for the handle wrapping. However, He can only wield his battle axe on the right hand as his left hand is sculpted on a fist.
The cover has been changed, but this set includes the comic book when this Thor takes the hammer for the first time. I don't read Thor and I have yet to read this comic book properly, but it was the final panel on this book that I was drawn into this Thor character.
Overall, this set is good set. Unfortunately, Odinson's head sculpt brings this set down. Fortunately, I didn't have this comic book, so for the comic book and the Thor figure, this set is well worth the retail price.
