Eversea: The Movie Star and The Waitress (The Butler Cove Series Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 3,276 ratings

A Hollywood A-list mega-star, on the run from his latest scandal and with everything to lose.
A beautiful but lonely small-town girl, held hostage by responsibility.

A chance encounter that leads to an unlikely arrangement and epic love affair that will change them both forever.

"Eversea is the kind of book you read with a carton of ice cream , to escape for a while and daydream for hours afterwards. It's the kind of chick flick you'd watch and swoon over (and over) with your BFF's on Girls' Night." Laila, Goodreads

When his co-star and real-life girlfriend is caught cheating on him by the tabloids, A-list hottie, Jack Eversea, finds himself in sleepy Butler Cove, South Carolina. Jack hopes the sultry southern heat in this tiny coastal Lowcountry town will hide him not only from the tabloids and his cheating girlfriend, but his increasingly vapid life and the people who run it. He doesn’t count on meeting Keri Ann Butler.

Keri Ann has relied on herself so long, dealing with her family’s death and the responsibilities of keeping up her family's historic mansion, that men and certainly the meager offering of eligible men in Butler Cove, have never figured into her equation.

But fate has other plans. Suddenly face to face with the man who played the movie role of her favorite book boyfriend, Jack has Keri Ann yearning for everything she has previously avoided ... and Jack must decide whether this funny, sassy girl is worth changing his life for, before his mistakes catch up to him.

The story of EVERSEA is book one in a series and is continued in Forever, Jack.

Cliffhanger as in the books cuts off mid-chapter

Cliffhanger as in the books cuts off mid-chapter
I would have scored this book higher but the ending was terrible. It cuts off in what reads to be mid-chapter with absolutely no resolution whatsoever. It's not even a good cliffhanger. To make matters worse, the author has a note that she was going to end the story there and not continue it but she decided to write a second installment. Really? As a writer, you really intend to just end a story in a place where your readers would be wondering if they were missing pages? Honesty would be nice here. You wrote a book and put it on amazon for free. You wrote the continuation and are charging $4. I don't begrudge you $4 to make some money for your book. But let's get real and not lie about it.

Holy Wow! Why in the world did it take me so long to read EVERSEA?!?!?! Peeps!!! If you have this book on your TBR list or on your ereader …. READ IT NOW!!!!! This book is a hidden gem!!! I started this book on a Sunday morning and I finished it in one sitting. OMG!!! It was so freakin’ AMAZING!!!! It was an extraordinary reading escape. The story in itself is déjà vu. Small town girl falls for super popular movie star. What makes Eversea different? I would have to agree with my co-blogger Ria. It's magic! Natasha Boyd really worked her magic. She made me feel, live, breathe every single emotion that Keri Ann and Jack were feeling. I forgot to eat, work and sleep! I was 100% engaged in this story and I could not think of anything else!

In Eversea we follow Keri Ann Butler, a small town girl with big dreams and Jack Eversea, a Hollywood mega star who is struggling between who he needs to be and who he wants to be. Keri Ann is having just another regular day at work, until a stranger in a hoodie changes her life in a heartbeat. Jack is on the run. After a very public hollywood breakup with his girlfriend, he wants to be far away from the media and needs an escape to sort things out. A good friend offers him the perfect escape when he gives him the keys to his house in South Carolina. Jack was looking for some peace of mind. Instead he found a girl who will forever change his life. A girl that sees him not has a mega star, but has the real JACK. Keri Ann is shocked to come face-to-face with the actor who plays the role of her favorite fictional character. What would a mega superstar like him do in a small town like Butler Cove? When Jack asks her to keep his secret, she accepts and they make a deal. In exchange for her help at keeping his presence a secret, he will help her with some house renovations. As the days go by, Jack and Keri Ann develop a friendship that turns into a beautiful love story that takes them by surprise. When Hollywood comes knocking on the door, their relationship will be put to the ultimate test. Will their love be strong enough to overcome these obstacles?

Natasha Boyd has created a world where I want to live in. I can’t believe that this is Natasha Boyd’s first novel!!! That’s crazy!!! Like Jack said to Keri Ann … “God,” he said, between breaths. “If that’s what you kiss like with no experience ... ” Well, I’m saying the same thing about Natasha’s first novel … ‘’God,’’ I say to myself. ‘’If that’s how she writes a first novel … I can’t wait to see what her second, third, fourth novel will be like!’’ I am a HUGE fan ! My co-blogger Ria was right … She ROCKS !!!!

While I was reading Keri Ann and Jack’s story, I was literally transported to Butler Cove. I felt like I was a supporting character in their story. I laughed and cried with them. Keri Ann and Jack are the kind of characters that I love to root for. They are captivating, lovable and most of all they felt so REAL to me. Keri Ann is kind, sweet and confident. She always helps other people before thinking of herself. She has a heart of gold and she has been through a lot. Jack is amazing, sexy, tender and passionate. He’s had a difficult past and his fame is suffocating him. He wants more to life than what Hollywood is imposing on him. These two have incredible chemistry! They had a slow building romance, but with crazy sexual tension. Holy hotness! Beware of the swoon-bombs that Jack will drop. Swoon Attack!!!

What can I say about the supporting characters? I loved them all!!! Even the ones that I loved to hate! They made the story what it was, and without them the story would have been different. I want a BFF just like Jazz. She is hilarious and crazy! This book did end with a huge cliffhanger. I really want these two to find their HEA and I am confident that everything will turn out for the best. I am so happy that Forever Jack is already out. I’m starting it ASAP! Kudos to the readers that had to wait for the second books to come out! I’m a very patient person, but when it comes to books …. I have no patience at all!!! I want to read the sequel ASAP!

I give, Eversea, by Natasha Boyd 5 passionate, romantic, fascinating, heartwarming stars ! This is a must on your TBR list! You will fall in love with Keri Ann and Jack. Their story is a real page-turner and you won’t be able to put it down! You are one-click away from reading an incredible love story ;)

Total escapism! A fun romance between a Hollywood heartthrob mega-star and a feisty small-town girl.

In her small town of nine thousand people, the last person Keri Ann ever expected to meet was Jack Eversea. THE Jack Eversea. But there he was, in person, the world most famous Hollywood mega-star actor sitting in her bar.

Turns out he was escaping his life, so to speak. Between the drama of a bad public break up and the non-stop spotlight on his life, he just needed a break. An escape.

"Suddenly, my heart started going a mile a minute and I was breathing hard. Jack Eversea was in my house! I willed myself to calm down and catch my breath. He was just a person. A human being. Right? I bent down for a moment and stuck my head between my knees, hoping my blood would circulate normally again."

I loved that despite the fact that Keri Ann was actually a big fan of his movies, she was able to separate them from him as a person and realize that underneath the whole Hollywood persona was really just this sweet, charming (and maybe even a little lonely) guy.

They hit it off and despite wanting to keep his presence in the town a secret, he trusted her and proposed a trade -- he'd help her fix up her house if she'd agree to do things like getting him groceries and supplies (which he couldn't do without being recognized)... and so began their flirtation-filled friendship.Meanwhile though, quite literally the whole world was wondering where on earth their top favorite movie star had gone!

But things weren't that simple. Jack was literally bound by contract to be in a relationship with a high profile movie actress (who he had actually dated in the past).. this was a signed deal, set in stone, no way out. Needless to say, that put more than a little hitch in any potential relationship between him and Keri Ann. There were so many questions that popped up -- I mean, it was wonderful that he was in her town now, but he couldn't stay forever so... what would happen when he went back? Would he get back together with his ex? Would he have to leave soon? Could the spark between them realistically go anywhere?

I think there's just something thrilling about the idea of a romance with a Hollywood star. But despite that there was a definite undertone of angst because throughout the whole book, you just KNEW that at the end of it, he would have to return to Hollywood and would have to go back to at least pretending to be with another woman.

"What do you want me to say? I'm sorry... I sold my life, my soul and my future to the devil?"
His hand left mine, and he pressed it palm down in the centre of my chest.
"If I'd know you were in my future, I would have chosen differently."

Despite this having some more serious elements to it (including Jack's backstory), there were still some really cute funny moments scattered throughout that kept me smiling for a lot of the book.

I have to say I really loved that Keri Ann was mostly very up front about her feelings and I really felt for her. I mean, how would YOU feel if the person you were crushing on slash falling for "had" to be in a public relationship with someone else?

But I liked that even though she was a small town girl and he was a big shot movie star, they really went toe-to-toe on everything.I enjoyed watching them fall for each other despite their situation. The progression of drama felt very natural - nothing that made me ill with worry but at the same time, I did really want everything to get sorted out.

The ending was a cliffhanger. Buuuuut, I knew that going into the book. At least it was more of a "positive" cliffhanger though - the kind where you're left with the knowledge like it's all going to work out in the end as opposed to one where everything is blown to hell but still... I need book #2. Like now. Right now. Dammit.

Overall, I enjoyed the book. It was true escapism. It was light and engaging with a dash of angst and a smattering of serious. I liked the characters and the story. It didn't pull any huge range of emotions from me but I'm really glad I read it and I'm definitely looking forward to the next one, FOREVER JACK, which will be out in November 2013 :)

What an amazing story! Loved how the Hero and heroine just clicked right away, it didn't look rushed or anything. I'm glad I finally managed to finish it. This is the type of NEW ADULT literature that I love. Mainly cause the heroine is not so super annoying and whiny, to the contrary she is independent and strong. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!
