Nematodes actively hunt for larvae, entering through natural body openings. Once inside the larvae, the nematode feed and multiply. Within a few days the pest will change color and die. The nematodes multiply and develop before leaving the old host to hunt for more pests. As the number of pests decrease, so will the nematode population. For this reason seasonal releases are recommended. Storage Storage temperature 36-45˚F. DO NOT FREEZE Store unactivated nematodes for up to 30 days. Once activated nematodes must be released within 6 hours. Store nematodes in the dark. Environmental Conditions Nematodes are susceptible to ultraviolet light (UV). Nematodes are susceptible to various chemical pesticides. Use caution when treating other diseases and pests. For optimal results, the ground surface should be moist.

Tried these and about a week later, there is like a 95% reduction of gnats! I’m sure it will keep working as well.
We also have pets and children in our office, and we value environmentally safe policies and procedures. So, as the office manager, I decided to buy these nematodes and let nature take its course. And it did. In about three days after I used this product, we had significantly less fungus gnats. After a second application, we are now gnat free.
The nematodes are easy to use - you don't actually see them. It's like they are freeze dried then added to this medium that you sprinkle onto the soil, then water in. That's it It's really easy. Now, the office thinks I'm a green thumb and a genius.
Before I got this product, I tried everything. Chemical sprays made me cough more than it affected the bugs. I tried drying the soil for a few days--all that did was tick the plants off and turn the tips of the leaves brown. I put out sticky traps and little cups of vinegar mixed with dish soap, and all that seems to have done was encourage them to reproduce faster. (Plus, everything stunk like vinegar after that, so it failed extra hard.)
I broke down and bought these nematodes. It actually worked.
Honestly, I'm a little shocked (and thoroughly pleased) to write that. The nematodes arrived on August 26 with a melted ice pack, and I assumed the worst. You're supposed to keep them cold, and when it's unbearably hot outside for humans, I figured the little nematodes were dead and gone before I had a chance to open the box. I gave it a try anyway, and I'm glad I did.
You get your millions of nematodes on two sponges sealed individually in cellophane similar to what they pack Twinkies in (but without the delicious treat inside). You remove one of the sponges, fill up a bucket with water, place the sponge in the water and squeeze the nematodes into the liquid. The liquid will take on a milky color--either from the nematodes themselves or whatever else was on the sponge with them.
They're not supposed to be harmful to humans, but I'm paranoid and used gloves to protect my hands while I squeezed the sponge in the bucket anyway. Your experience will vary depending on how grossed out you get.
About two weeks later, we came home after a few days visiting family to find that there were just two gnats bumbling around our apartment. No more. Unusual. I assumed they were just hiding in the shadows, waiting to pounce when I had a bowl of watermelon or an open can of soda on my desk, but day after day went by and they were nowhere to be found. I haven't seen a gnat since.
If you have gnats in your houseplants and you're at your wit's end, give them a try. It worked for me.
