This kind of got off track of reviewing the series, and yes I probably have seen every single episode of Little House on the Prairie. Every time she starts a DVD I say oh yeah that one oh yeah that one oh yeah that one. Then she tells me to shut up.
In conclusion, Buy it, it's still good to and should be forced down the throats of the Netflix generation. Good stories with moral implications, characters who aren't naked or having sex with anyone and anything, nobody's high on drugs or celebrating marijuana. None of them are hookers with a heart of gold or gentle caring murderers. And there is no swearing every three seconds, or in nine years for that matter. In other words, kids today won't like it.
Season 9 is truly a "New Beginning" as the characters have certainly evolved, and there are newbies galore. Shannon Daughtery is an amazing little actor in this series as I couldn't believe it was her when I popped it in my DVD player. I think I liked her better as a little girl! Isaiah Edwards, (Victor French) has once again became one of the main characters for the series and is with the season througout the stay. Laura and Almonzo are still around along with classics such as Nels, Harriet, Nancy and Wily, Willy Olesen, Dr. Baker and the Reverend Alden are still here. I think this is the last Season we get to enjoy the antics of Harriet (McGreggor) as I don't believe she reprises her role in Season 10. The stories still seem (and manage) to touch the heart like they did in the earlier seasons and still draws tears to fans. How they can make a story about a strayed babboon in Walnut Grove and make it enjoyable is beyond me, but it's successful no matter how you cut it.
The most gut wrenching and disturbing 2-part episode is with the return of Albert and Charles Ingalls. It's the most morbid episode ever for the series and is almost to the point of being inappropriate for younger viewers. The moral is certainly "drugs will ruin your life, so don't do drugs!" Albert is addicted to Morphine, and the show puts you through his vomiting, convulsions, hallucinations, his severe withdrawl and the battle with his father to save his life. Can the great and powerful Charles Ingalls save him one last time? Great entertainment, allbeit a bit morbid.
Fans of the series should still buy this, It's not the best season by any means, most of the classic characters are gone, but the show still manages to rock thanks to continued great storylines and fine acting. It's still one of the betters forms of entertainment that should be on everyone's shelf for years to come.

el audio original en latino lo malo es que no viene subtitulada en español
pero de hay en fuera exelente.
Actually the loss of the Ingalls family isn't as great as one might imagine because in many ways the retitled 'Little House - A New Beginning' manages to find a new perspective by refocusing on different characters and in turn creating new and entertaining situations. Many of the old characters still remain of course, yet those new faces in addition to the returning Mr Edwards give the series a freshness and vitality that had been lacking somewhat in recent seasons. It's also worth noting that many of the stories now seem a lot less sensationalised which for me makes them easier to relate to. 'A New Beginning' therefore does seem a very apt title.
This seasons stories are possibly the strongest for several years - certainly since season six or even going back as far as season four. Michael Landon still maintained his position writing and directing many of the episodes even if he only appeared twice during the series ('Times Are Changing' and 'Home Again'). The themes of the series remain very much the same as always and involve prejudice - 'Little Lou' - mistreatment and greed - 'The Wild Boy', anger - 'A Child With No Name' and also a dose of humour - 'For The Love Of Blanche'. There is also a story involving Albert Ingalls use of drugs - 'Home Again' which has the aim of educating viewers in the danger of drugs.
If there are any negative points to this final series it is that at times the series lacks a strong lead (vacated by Michael Landon). Melissa Gilbert (Laura) takes the lead credits alongside Dean Butler (Almanzo) but really the series is very much a group effort where all the actors take a share of the responsibility. Often though, in truth, it's Victor French (Mr Edwards) who carries the responsibility most effectively with a number of very powerful scenes of emotion alongside his more jovial traits. This is the reason why in my opinion the stories his character is most prominantly involved in tend to be the most memorable (and enjoyable). Really this season needed more performances like this from some of the other actors. The new character Jenny played by Shannen Doherty also puts in a number of really fine delicately emotional performances. She was a most endearing young girl!
Generally, 'Little House - A New Beginning' is very strong. It has a freshness due to the fact there are several new characters and a new sense of perspective. In turn there's also far less need to sensationalise because the characters have yet to be developed to their full potential which ultimately adds to the strength of this series.
What would have happened if the series had continued - who knows? based on what is evident here the series still had great potential.
