Product Description

The Palisades is something we said we would never do… an overdrive based on the legendary TS808! Gasp! After loads of requests we finally buckled. We ran tests with every popular clone on the market as well as several vintage originals, compared, contrasted and took loads of notes. It was exhausting but informative. In the end, we threw it all away, used our ears and came up with what we feel is the most versatile relative of the 808 available today. With 6 different clipping voices, 5 bandwidth settings and 2 gain channels you will be hard-pressed to not find a setting that will wipe every mid-boosting overdrive off your board. The clipping voices determine how transparent and open or tight and crunchy the distortion is. They will vary drastically depending on where the gain is set, what channel is active and how much bandwidth is being used. The bandwidth sets the frequency response of the distortion and goes from thin, light and clean through fat heavy and crunchy. It may very well be the single most important control the palisades has and what really sets it apart. Gain A is a lower gain channel with a wider range of grit that is great for strumming open chords. Gain B is a higher gain channel with a tighter range that is great for palm muting and/or shredding solos. The Palisades also has a foot switchable volume boost with adjustable level to take it over the top when you want to throw your foot up on the monitor and rip your sweet leads… or maybe just push the front end of you amp a little harder. Not enough? How about a normal/bright switch to mix and match the overall tone to different amps and guitars. Still not enough? OK then, how about a buffer on/off switch to tighten up the tone and make it sparkle when set to "ON" or warm it up and make it sag when set to "OFF". The Palisades is a versatile dude that will give you years of loving companionship. Each Palisades is hand made one at a time in the tiny tree house community of Akron, Ohio.

I LOVE this pedal! It's versatile and powerful. As a 20+ year professional, I have been through many overdrives and distortions. I often play gigs with 3 or 4, but now I can just use this one. I actually prefer this to most overdrives as some others sound too "flat" to me. The Palisades can cover so many different sounds. I took it on a tour last week on faith (without any practice with it) and was able to get every overdrive/distortion sound I could ever need just from this one box. Also, if you activate and boost and then lower the volume on your guitar (and experiment with similar approaches), you can get more inside the spectrum of what this box can do. I HIGHLY recommend this to any player. Also, the construction is SOLID. This is well worth the cost and made in the good old USA!

Awesome pedal that might just replace all the drive pedals on your board. Genuine boutique quality - from the pearl finish to individualised numbering and the attention to minor details like how the nuts for the switches all line up.

I'm a little suspicious of pedal reviews and the hype around some pedals (been disappointed) and add to that the fact that I'm not even a big fan of TS type pedals to begin with so it took me a while to convince myself to get one. Happy to say that I wasn't disappointed in the slightest! This pedal does everything from no drive at all (just a little boost) to all-in, scrape the plaster off the walls type 'distortion' with just as much tone and gain as you want. You can literally dial in any sound that you want - and then have more of that with the Gain B and Boost switches.

This pedal will never leave my board and if I lose it I'll get another one without even thinking about it. It's pricey but like another reviewer said, now that I know what it does I'll happily pay even more for it. It's worth it.

As long as I have been writing/performing/recording music (10 years), I have absolutely despised shopping for Distortion/Fuzz/OD pedals. Nothing has ever fully satisfied my desire for a diverse, flexible effect pedal that can be more than a one trick pony. This is where the Palisades comes in. EQD makes thoughtful, reliable, durable equipment that is mostly reasonably priced. Though the Palisades has a slightly bigger price tag than its Tube Screamer counterparts, the extra coin is worth the extra features included in this pedal and this pedal only. The knobs do what they say they do and the do them well. Every OD/Distortion tone you could be looking for can be found with patience and a little know how. It doesn't have any fuzz capabilities, but that is easily forgiven. My only gripe with this pedal, and it's actually a really big one with me personally, is that there aren't 2 separate volume knobs for each individual channel. Oh, well.

I admire the effort, but the price is a bit overwhelming for the resulting sounds.

I had pretty high expectations when buying this, as the 808 has been my go-to OD for every amp I've owned. I can honestly say that I was blown away the first time I plugged this in. The tonal options on tap are AMAZING in breadth, but ironically it never feels overwhelming. The control layout is intuitive and everything "just works" together. My trusty old 808 has been sold and the Palisades now has a permanent spot on my main board! Heck, with the two gain channels on the Palisades, I'm considering just going back to single channel amps - it's that good!

Edit: Thought I'd come back after a few months to see if the honeymoon period had worn out... Good news: it definitely has not! This is still by far my most used (and most versatile) pedal and I love every minute of it. The only thing I did was to replace the three foot switches as I got sick of the loud KER-CHUNK echoing on the stage between songs - even so, I'd still give this beauty a 5 star rating all day every day!

Cannot say enough about this pedal! I have owned many, many different overdrive pedals in my time. From various Tubescreamers (TS9, TS808, etc) to a Fulldrive 2 and 3, to the Dirty Little Secret and a Soul Food. I feel like I just bought all of them at once. It is absolutely the best overdrive pedal I have ever owned. I put it up next to all the others, and was able to dial in a similar, if not better tone to each. But, after an hour of tweaking the knobs and trying various settings, I was completely blown away. Is it expensive? Yes. Having said that, now that I have heard it, I would pay even more for it, if I had to. I ran various Les Pauls and Telecasters through it, and plugged it into different amps. No issues at all. I would recommend this pedal to anyone who is an overdrive pedal fan. The one caveat, it will not run on a battery. Not an issue for me, but something to consider if you don't use a power supply.

Hands down the best overdrive pedal I've tried. Whether it be a modded TS9, TS-808 reissue, original TS-808, Green Rhino, or any other boutique brands, none of them have this level of versatility. So many of the other pedals you would mention along side this, suck all the mid range right out of your guitar. It almost sounds like two different rigs once you activate the pedals. The Palisades allows you to preserve your tone 100% (if that's what you want), and build on top of it with as much gain as you see fit. Nothing I hate more than a pedal becoming my tone as opposed to complimenting it, which is what I ran into with many of these other pedals. Glad I didn't go cheap because you get what you pay for.

Well....a very versatile TS Klone . I liked the first gain stage. Didn't like the boost, too clean, not thick. The selections for clippings was great. Open and clean all the way up to mild fuzz. A nice body control that clicked thru several settings, tight up to fat bass. Bright toggle was a plus. If you have guitars with various pickups, this pedal can dial in the sweet spot. It may be to many options for some. If so try the dunes. No second gain stage or boost. I switched over to dunes( set and forget).
