Fast forward as a 28-year-old. I've been looking for this workout for years. The old VHS tapes cost mega-billion bucks and I could never find one that was affordable until I got my hands on this.
This is the work that has that funny animation with the Jane Fonda doll by the shoe, towel, cassette tape player, etc in the blue workout apparel.

**Experience**
What I really like about the program is that they have some really excellent music. My ears were wide open as flashbacks of my childhood came back. There were songs I had forgotten.
The moves are very unique. With weights she really does help you tire out your arms even though the exercises seem so simple. She said it will help back support and give beautiful shoulders. But to be honest, I was waiting for a break. My arms were crying.
The cardio part consists of really funny and exciting exercises. Each has a theme and it will get you pumping. I started sweating, thinking this was crazy. My lower legs were cramping, and sometimes the moves are performed so fast that it's hard to keep up. But if you practice, it's easy to follow along. There was a cowboy theme and the way she had us moving made me think 'lol! what am i doing!?' But it was EFFECTIVE! You move around A LOT.
The push ups on the floor are not hard, nor does she drag it out. I think you do probably 8 or 12 and you're done. The floor work toward the end with the stomach and oblique exercise will make you begging for mercy. Good Lord! But I would have much preferred she had all the floor work in one segment instead of having a small one just before the cardio segment. It just easier to keep up with the mat.
She said you burn about 200 to 400 calories by the time you complete the cardio part. I burned 273 at the end of the cardio, and then 311 calories toward the very end. I am between 160-156 pounds. So, if you're around my size, you can do this (or at least the high intensity mode). You WILL need a sports bra for this. My knees did hurt a bit. So I wore some knee support wraps.
LOVE IT!
The beginning section is upper body with weights. You pick the weight that's right for your abilities. If it's too easy, pick a heavier weight or do the entire upper body section again (I'm used to starting again from the top with Jillian Michaels and Tamilee Webb). The only thing notably missing from the upper body workout is isolated tricep exercises. You do work your triceps with a few brief pushups, but you may want to pause at the end and do some tricep extensions on your own.
The middle section is aerobics. It's great, and I often do that section by itself if I'm going to switch to a kettlebell video later. I'm a child of the 80s, and I love every minute of the big hair and leg warmers (I like the Mary Hart look-alike in the tiger leotard). Some people reject videos on that basis, and I respect their opinion. The only workout videos worth doing are the ones that keep you coming back for more, right? Aerobics works for fat burning, even though it feels too easy to be having any effect. I've seen my body fat drop percentage drop the next day from only doing the aerobics.
The final section is lower body work. It's pretty thorough floor work with ankle weights if you want. There are lunges with weights if you want, but no squats. Then there is ab and hip work familiar to anyone who has done Jane Fonda's Original Workout and Jane Fonda's New Workout . The only glaring omission here is no isolated calf work, but it is a part of the muscle group for lunges. So pause and add some calf raises on your own.
Overall, it's a great workout because the three sections exist to meet your needs. Upper body work was always a weakness in Jane's earliest workouts. If you add the first section here and then do the older workouts, then all your bases are covered. Or just do this workout from beginning to end. There are much tougher workouts these days, but they are usually designed to be done for 30 days, 6 weeks, or 90 days. Then what? You can do this all the time, and actually enjoy it.
