Customers are dissatisfied with the sound quality of the tabletop game. They say that the music is the worst game music they've ever heard, the soundtrack is PC only, and the flash drive is a total joke. The Art Book in this Special Edition is BEAUTIFUL, and full of detailed drawings of all the characters and locations you will find in the game, the special art is pretty neat to have, and the USB with the music, though small and limited in content, as well as having the music protected (this can be worked around so you can extract your soundtrack to play outside your computer) is pretty neat to have. It looks like the Life Hold pieces, and it lights up blue when you plug it into an USB port.
The game's drawbacks? As always, there will be some drawbacks for any great game, and for this one, I would say some musics in the game are pretty lame (like the music playing in the city at night), there are so many characters, that though you can see some character development, it sometimes feels rushed for some of them, though it's not so bad. The main story is pretty interesting, but you'll be more drawn by the exploration than the story itself, and then there's the issue with the Data Packs you can download to help the game load faster for you. These are optional, and work to help the game load a little faster, but they take up a LOT of your precious little Wii U Disk space, and if you, like me, don't have an external hard drive, you'll need to clear up the console's space to get it in to work.
I'm not going to post spoilers, but to progress to Chapter 4, make sure that you have a survey rate of 15% on Primordia. Talk to the lady opposite of the blade barracks. The lady will inform you about blades, and you'll complete a little mission to progress to Chapter 4. Afterwards, on the left side of you, go across and speak to another lady. That lady will let you find probes to collect and mine. That will allow you to start Chapter 4 in the blade barracks.
The special edition came with a 800mb USB containing sample songs, very well done art book, art card of characters, and a reversible game cover. The special edition is definitely a nice package to have. However, if you're trying to rip games from the USB, there is a way.Do the below:
"Open the soundtrack and then open 7zip as an admin
Type in Z:\NLLastF\ in 7 zip and copy the file in 7zip to get the files" - Source from Murixbob (Gamefaqs)
If you're a beginner and want to learn more of the combat style, the Xenoblade Chronicles Reddit page has information for the single player and multiplayer aspects of Xenoblade Chronicles X to help you understand much better. This is a great game, everyone should have a chance to experience this great piece of art!
The collectibles (including the game box itself) are pretty high quality. The Digital OST's 900 MB flash drive is weighty and good to hold, although I do worry about leaving it plugged into a computer's USB slot for an extended period. Also, the DRM protection on the music is a hassle. (Own a Mac? Sorry bro, no music for you. Linux? Okay, you can crack the file open, but we won't make it easy for you. Windows? Run our proprietary program that does literally nothing except play this single album.)
The art book is printed well and contains an interesting combination of high-quality, in-engine renders as well as actual concept art.
The game itself is engrossing and fun to play and explore. The gameplay has clearly been the focus of development over the predecessor, Xenoblade Chronicles; the game's battles are more fun and fluid, the game's world more rewarding to explore, and the overall polish of the engine truly emphasizes the central gameplay loops.
To each their own on the story, though.
