When I was a child, my mother always gave us maple syrup for our pancakes that was the usual product that fills supermarket stores...without naming names, think logs and aunts. Well one day I had REAL Vermont mad maple syrup and..behold..my eyes and taste buds were opened to a new world.
So when I received my order of this cinnamon, I was expecting the same cinnamon I had bought and used for many decades. Boy, was I in for surprise! At last I had the real thing; all these years thinking I knew what cinnamon really is..wrong again.
This Ceylon cinnamon has an enchanting aroma that calls out to you. The taste is lighter and sweeter than typical grocery store cinnamon. Suddenly I found many uses for cinnamon. I use it in my coffee to make an incredibly delicious cinnamon coffee. I mix it with one teaspoon of sugar in plain, no fat yogurt. I have eaten the yogurt only for its health benefits, but the taste is most unappealing. Now, a small amount of sugar and the cinnamon to taste gives a great tasting breakfast food, high in protein, calcium and an early morning treat for the taste buds. Also, cinnamon toast is one of my favorites. Vanilla ice cream and cinnamon...wonderful. I have not yet used it in cooking or baking, but I look forward to a new experience with Indian dishes that call for cinnamon.
So, this is a lighter, slightly sweet and definitely tastier in a sophisticated kind of way compared to traditional cinnamon. Try it, you'll like it!

For people who use cinnamon to lower their blood sugar levels this Ceylon product is the best. Cinnamon has been known to help blood sugar levels for diabetics. But the cinnamon that you purchase as a vitamin or the cinnamon that is on most cakes and cookies contain a substance in it called coumarin. Coumarin has been linked to liver problems and certain forms of cancer. Coumarin is also a weak form of coumadin, which is a blood thinner. So if you take a large quantity of cinnamon that is not from Ceylon and are on Plavix or coumadin or even an aspirin it could increase the effects of there thinning properties. Most of these cinnamons come from Saigon. Ceylon cinnamon does not contain this product. But it does contain anti-inflammatory and antioxidants. It is expensive but well worth the potential help to your health and leveling your blood glucose levels.

This product is not organic. They seem to be trying very hard to characterize this product as "natural" and "fresh" and all sorts of other claims, but it does not appear to be organic. I suspect this may be because these types of products coming from some of these foreign countries tend to have metals or other things in them so that it would not pass an organic inspection. I'm NOT saying this product DOES have contaminants, but I am definitely suspicious. If it is organic then it should be certified as such. And if its not, then its not. I don't care how natural and fresh it is. That being said, this alleged ceylon cinnamon is only slightly lighter than the store bought crap, and it only tastes very very slightly better. I did a side by side comparison, and the only difference is that this one has a very slight hint of sweetness when it first hits your tongue, but that goes away immediately and it tastes just like the store bought crap after that. Not really sure why I should pay so much more for a product that tries to act like its organic but probably isnt, and doesnt add much sweetness at all. Maybe this batch is just super weak because they are trying to boost profits for themselves by taking advantage of the fact that there are no good sources of Ceylon Cinnamon on Amazon? I would check the ingredients list for fillers, oh but wait there isnt an ingredients list! How professional of the manufacturer to mail me a plastic baggy full of brown powder with no information on it! Hint to the manufacturer: Sell us the potent stuff, make sure its organic, and then you can raise the price. Just because the FDA is asleep and/or bought-off doesn't mean you should be trying to take advantage of us. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE PRODUCE A CLEAN, ORGANIC, POTENT CEYLON CINNAMON? TIRED OF WASTING TIME AND MONEY PLAYING GAMES WITH THESE DIS-HONORABLE FOOD COMPANIES...................................
