I knew the moment Katy Swartz moved in next door, there was going to be trouble. Lots of it.
And trouble’s the last thing I need, since I’m not exactly from around here. My people arrived on Earth from Lux, a planet thirteen billion light years away. Plus, if there’s one thing I know, it’s that humans can’t be trusted. We scare them. We can do things they only dream about, and honestly, we make them look weak as hell. ‘Cuz they are.
But Kat is getting to me in ways no one else has, and I can't stop myself from wanting her—or wanting to use my powers to protect her. She makes me weak, and I’m the strongest of our kind, tasked with protecting us all. So this one simple girl…she can mean the end for us. Because the Luxen have an even bigger enemy—the Arum, and I need to stay on my game.
Falling for Katy—a human—won't just place her in danger. It could get us all killed, and that’s one thing I’ll never let happen...

5 stars: "The dialogue, romantic tension & action were great. Loved all the characters. Love the focus on Katy & Dee's relationship, and of course, the guy--Daemon Black. Smokin hot & obnoxious as hell. Sigh." --Cindi Madsen, USA Today bestselling author of Falling for Her Fiance
5 stars: "I teen-girly giggled my way through this one in record time. Yeah, it was pathetic. I sat here on the couch giggling at the witty banter and sexual tension like I was fifteen years old again. Good times. (I'm a nerd, what can I say?) Well written, creative plot, very likable characters and over all fun. --Kelly Oram, bestselling author of Cinder & Ella and If I Were a Movie
5 stars: "[Jennifer L. Armentrout] really understands the key ingredients to a fantastic YA romance: swoon-worthy guys, realistic heroines, wistful romance, action, and humor." --Rachael Wade, author of Preservation
5 stars: "I loved the take on aliens, and the characters are so feisty and fun! It's one of those "new girl moves to town and falls in with a group of non-humans lead by a gorgeous yet douchey guy" kind of stories, but Katy is a really refreshing main character. She's snarky and can stand up for herself and despite her attraction to Daemon, she's not afraid to call him a dickhead when he's being one." --Kat O'Keefe, Katytastic Booktube

What’s great about reading these books now, is that I already know how the story is supposed to go. There are no curveballs, and yet, I still got the same weepy tears that I did throughout the books when I read them through Katy’s point of view. You pretty much read these books after you’ve already read the series at large. Granted, for me, that was a few years ago and several hundred books ago!
I remember when I first met Daemon in Obsidian, I agreed with Katy. He was a douche. But seriously, reading from his point of view, totally shines bright freaking light onto the situation. And I can’t help but love him a little more. Still want to slap him upside the head a few times, of course, but luckily Katy pretty much does that in her own way!
It’s hard to review a book you’ve read before, even if this is a new take on it. The story stays the same for the most part, but we basically see what Daemon is doing when he wasn’t with Katy and it’s definitely a worthy read! Because seriously who loves the Lux books and not Daemon? He’s an ass at times, but he’s an ass with heart! LOL.
I was surprised by how fast these reads were. Granted, I had to break after Obsidian because I had a review book, but then I dove right back in and here I am totally finished with all three books! It almost makes me want to go back and re-read Origin and Opposition, but sadly, my reading schedule just doesn’t have that kind of time.
Another thing I loved, was experiencing the incredibleness of the series again! I loved falling in love with Daemon again. I loved laughing with Dee and Katy. And omg, the book gushing! I loved Katy being a blogger and I loved how Daemon finds her blog without her knowing and following her. I even loved hating Bran? Billy? (Blake naturally, but I pretty much loved Daemon purposely not getting his name right either!) And basically feeling all those same feelings I had throughout the series all over again. I didn’t quite care for the heartaches, but luckily there were still plenty of pick me up moments with Daemon and then of course, there’s the fact that I already know how the series ends!
But seriously, what else is there to say about how awesome and amazing this book was? It’s just awesome and amazing! I loved being in Daemon’s head! I loved all his attitude moments, his sweeter moments, and the moments where he berates himself for his attitude or sweetness! And who could forget the spaghetti scene?! Still one of my most favorite moments ever!
Oblivion, in both its formats—which again, I HIGHLY suggest getting the ebook for you get MORE of Daemon, and the paperback, because who doesn’t want to stare at that cover all day—is truly the read for the Lux fan. And I know a LOT of Lux fans! I’m sure they’ve all finished with this one, as it seems I am not as fast a reader as I once thought! But I loved enjoying and taking my time for a little one on one with Daemon. Now if only I can find a real life version of him who’s more my age! Haha.
Everything about Oblivion was truly perfect and amazing! And I think Daemon would agree with that because he thinks of himself as perfect and amazing as well! And hell, he pretty much is after that first book! LOL!
Overall Rating 5/5 stars
Daemon Black's head. I was thrilled to learn that Ms. Armentrout read my mind. It was exciting to read the story again from his POV, getting other parts of the story. I loved being inside of Daemon's head. I definitely enjoyed reading Onyx more from him because Katy irked me in the middle, so it was better not to have to be inside of bed head. I thank the author for this side of the story. It's a perfect counterpart.
Daemon's POV gives insight to just how hard he fought against getting to know Katy and that despite his resistance, he was the one to make mistakes and to put Katy in danger, not someone else. I also loved his interactions with Dee and Adam and knowing how much he missed Dawson. While Daemon isn't really the sort of guy a person confides to about feelings, he's definitely the first person someone would want on their team when it comes to defending and protecting. Not to mention that Daemon has no patience, so he doesn't tolerate anyone's crap and isn't afraid to let them know. A mad Daemon is a scary Daemon and his enemies have every reason to run in the other direction. He can't be outsmarted either.
But Daemon really matures and develops throughout the series. Aside from the love he has for his close friends and family, he's never been in love and known what it's like to care for someone and want their happiness more than his own. He's always been enclosed in his bubble and not allowing other people in, but Katy still crept under his skin and wouldn't go away. A guy like Daemon thrives on challenge and met his match in Katy because she won't back down or be scared off by his tactics.
Seeing Daemon transform into a guy who loves Katy more than anything or anyone is really inspiring because there's nothing he won't do for her and Daemon is capable of so many things. In order to win her over, he has to learn to be patient, avoid making rash behavior, and put in an effort to earn her trust, all of which doesn't come easy for him. He has no weakness except for her, but she makes him a better person overall. Love, love, love Daemon!
