The apocalypse finds its way back to her doorstep when a letter arrives. Is it a friendly warning, a dire threat, or a simple reminder that she can't run away from what's to come? Sara refuses to take heed and pays dearly for her avoidance. With her family in danger and the preservation of free will hanging in the balance, she finds herself with no other choice. Sara must follow the path forged for her, a path that may take away everything she holds dear and leave her in pieces at the end. She's caught between Heaven and Hell, and the last person she'd ever have considered trusting might just be her greatest ally.

About the author

Astrid V. Tallaksen grew up with a heart for stories of creatures and places outside of this world. Her love of reading quickly became a love of writing. She spent several years creating content and helping writers to improve their craft on the online world of Althanas, a creative writing workshop in the guise of a roleplaying forum. A self-avowed nerd, Astrid loves science fiction, comic books, and eighties fantasy movies in the vein of The Princess Bride and Labyrinth. Her geekiness extends to annual volunteer work at the massive sci-fi convention known as Dragon*con every year in Atlanta, Georgia. In the odd times that she's not immersed in geekdom or writing, Astrid loves to sing karaoke, crochet, and spend time with her family and pets.

I love that Astrid Tallaksen really gets you deeply involved with the characters, you can really feel their pain, fear, desperation, etc. Sara has been through so much and with this continuation of her story she goes through even more, but through all of the awful things, you can still see into the person Sara is and see her emotions and how she's breaking and yet, she's got a strong resiliance too. She may take a moment or two to wallow, but ultimately she's not the type to sit back and give up, not our Sara, she's not going down without a fight.
Between Heaven and Hell introduces us to some new characters, while updating us on those we've previously met/seen in the story. I found these new characters to be pivotal to the future of the storyline. Without giving away spoilers, I can say that I look forward to seeing more interactions with a certain male character in the next book.
There are definitely some crazy twists in this book, some quite unexpected and others that seemed pretty given as we read things play out. I know that the next book is going to be even more Epic and I can't wait to see what the battle brings Sara's way. I expect major revelations and further surprises thrown our way, but I can't wait.
This was a traumatically, wonderful book. It is hard to bear witness to so much character suffering after you've grown to care for them, and this story is full of suffering! It is so well written, that despite how I may have wanted to throw the book across the room at certain times, I was dying to see how situations would play out. As Sara transitions to Azreal, the story takes on a larger than life form. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to the next installment.
Be advised this is not a stand-alone novel, you really need to read the first book to fully capture all of the meaning of events; as well although this book does not end in a cliffhanger, it does end feeling unsettled.

I enjoyed At Death's Door (Freefall Book 1) so much I was eagerly anticipating book 2.
Book two picks up a year after book one Sara AKA Azrael The Angel of Death, Daniel and Danny are living a happy little life in Wisconsin.
Azrael and her son are prophesied to be major players in the upcoming apocalypse. Sara's (Azrael) way of dealing with this is to ignore it!
I was so frustrated with this book! She is the freaking Angel of Death yet she is so incredibly weak a needy! She is pretty much everything I hate in a female lead. She cried all the time!
Book one I could forgive her her weaknesses because of the amnesia and thinking she was human. Book two! No your The Freaking Angel of Death! Time to put the big girl panties on!
This story was very sad and under normal circumstances if I even felt remotely connected to the character I may have got emotional. I don't, so I didn't.
I was disappointed with this book as a whole. I kept thinking any minute now she is going to pull it together and go kick some ass!
I'm really hoping book three is better. But at this point I'm not sure if I even want to go there again....Sara
When we start off with Between Heaven and Hell, Sara is just wanting to live a normal life with Daniel. After everything that she’s been through and endured, almost loosing everything, she craves normal. And for a while Daniel and Sara are able to do just that. Unfortunately, with Heaven and Hell being at war, peace and happiness can’t last forever. Sara is faced with having to make some of the most difficult decisions. She has no choice, but to follow that path she’s destined to. This path will not be easy and it’s one that will have Sara questioning not only herself, but who the enemy really is….
Between Heaven and Hell was such a great read. After finishing the previous book, I could not wait to get my hands on this one and let me tell you, I was not disappointed. This book gave me everything that I was looking for. Once again, I found myself sucked into the story-line, unable to put it down. The characters are captivating, especially one new one that I can’t wait to see more of. Between Heaven and Hell had so many exciting twists and turns. I found my self holding my breath in anticipation of what would happen.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and this series so far. It has reignited my love for paranormal reads. I love angels/fallen angels. I am so excited about this series and I can’t wait to see where the story will take us next.
