Product Description

The MSR Hubba Hubba NX 2-Person Lightweight Backpacking Tent is the quintessential 3-season backpacking tent. The freestanding design features pole geometry and a non-tapered floor that maximizes space with 29 square feet of floor area, and a peak interior height of 39 inches. Two generous vestibules provide an additional 8.75-square-feet on each side of the 2-door tent (total 17.5-square-feet) for gear storage. The adjustable, cross-ventilating rainfly features a kickstand vent, and rollup vestibule for stargazing. Setup is easy thanks to the unified hub-and-pole system, and color-coded clips. For fast and light travel, the body of the tent can be left behind, and a minimalist shelter constructed using a footprint (sold separately), poles, and rainfly. Includes tent, poles, rainfly, stakes, guy lines, and compression stuff sack (tent packs down to 18x6 inches). Available in two configurations: with the DuraShield Coating and DAC Featherlite NFL poles where complete setup weighs 3.5 pounds, minimum setup weighs 3 pounds, or with the Xtreme Shield Waterproof Coating (lasts up to 3 times longer than standard coatings) with premium Easton Syclone Poles (resists breaking in fierce winds) where complete setup weighs 3.5 pounds, minimum setup weighs 3 pounds. Good all around 2-person backpacking tent!
5 Stars
Good all around 2-person backpacking tent!
I have two of these tents, and have used them for backpacking in Sierra's, Teton's, and Glacier NP... Total use is probably 30+ nights, and they are still holding up well. Mostly fair weather, but I did have a couple rain events. They are easy to set up (even the deer in the pic shown can do it!), and with some added thought (beyond a deer's skill level), they can be set up in rain to minimize inside wetness. They aren't the lightest option, but I think they offer a good balance of weight/durability/price (I initially had a little sticker shock, but after 30 uses with no issue, the shock goes away :) ). I highly recommend! Note: The deer in the pic was seeking trekking poles, and soon after pic was taken, scored one from a backpacking neighbor... Funny stuff! My 12/13 yo daughters actually set up that tent. "Deer in pic" Taken in Glacier, Head of Glenn Lake; Blue sky background in 4-pass loop, near Aspen CO; tent next to be tree was in Inyo Nat forest, John Muir Trail. Intent is not bragging with my pics... I just really enjoy backpacking. All are incredible destinations, and good times of my life! See you on the trail!Update: After 4+ years, these tents are still in great shape. Used them for 5 nights in Desolation (Tahoe) in 2019 and this year at Wind River Range. I did have to repair one... Loaned it to my daughters boyfriend while car camping and one of the vent lines was tripped on, ripping the stitching on the tent. I repaired it easily though with outdoor thread (think heavy fish line) and a backstitch. Back in business! I knew the risks of car camping... These tents are for backcountry only ; ) 4th pic posted is in the Cirque (Wind River Range). Take care!2021 - Had to replace pole elastic. Elastic is a luxury but doesn't maintain elasticity forever! I committed a sin and didn't test my gear to find this problem prior to hitting the trail... Luckily, wasn't pitching tents in inclement weather. Solution in backcountry: Had to cut out the elastic to allow poles to fit together, and then had to mark poles so that I could recall how they fit together remaining nights. Long term solution: Bought 50' of elastic cord and replaced it on both tents. Note: I actually came up about 2' short (umm... it happens ; ) )See you on the trails!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best tent I have owned. Water tight!!!
Reviewed in the United States on May 3, 2017
Awesome lightweight tent. Just took it on a 3 night trip in Mammoth Cave NP (27 miles). It rained a lot, and I stayed dry, and that is the paramount feature of any tent. Add in that this goes up in a flash (helpful during a downpour), has quality construction and stitching, and is under four pounds, makes this tent hard to beat. Large vestibule on either side give ample space to store two packs and boots. Interior space is great for 1 person, but you could squeeze 2 in there. Dimensions are a little smaller than advertised. Chose this over the Copper Spur and Quarter Dome due to its beefier fabrics, although slightly heavier. Glad i did, as i poked the fly with one of the poles pretty good in a scramble to get it up in the rain, but no damage!! Not a fan of fragility in the outdoors where "things happen." Best tent I have owned hands down.

Update: Still the best tent I have owned. I have used this now on two backpacking trips, one in Colorado and one in Kentucky. Both times we ran into storms and it kept us and our gear dry! Super easy to set up, break down, and the stuff sack is great (immensely important after a long day on the trail). Also this tent will fit two adults. My friend and I (both around 6 feet and 230 lbs) Confirmed this on our recent trip to Colorado in high altitude, where we wanted to spit the weight of one tent instead of two. It's tight, but doable. Also, condensation is just something that every tent is going to have, especially with two people in this tent. If you are expecting not to have any (very small amount in this tent as I have experienced) well good luck to you!!!
