From the author of New York Times bestsellers Easy and Breakable—a standalone novel in the Contours of the Heart series.

He’s the love of her life, but he doesn’t know it. She’s his one moment of sacrifice in a lifetime of survival. He was damaged and wild, but resilient. She’s always been obedient; now she’s restless.

Home for the summer between college and med school, Pearl Torres Frank knows two things: Boyce Wynn is the embodiment of everything she should run from, and everything she wants to run to. Rebellious and loud. Unconcerned with society’s opinion of him. Passionate. Strong. Dangerous. And one more trait he hides from everyone but her:
Sweet.

Tammara Webber’s SWEET is romantic and sexy and so hot it sizzles. It has a love story that will make readers sigh and smile and swoon. It has characters they will adore, hope for, cheer for, fall for. And it reveals a backstory that will capture their hearts and make them wish for a happy ending for Pearl and Boyce.

From the moment he pulled her from an ocean that nearly claimed her and she opened her eyes and looked up at him, Boyce Wynn loved Pearl Torres Frank. And she loved him. But in the sixteen years since, he’s never had the courage to reveal his true feelings. And neither has she.

She was the one person who looked at him as if he was someone. Saving her was the one great thing he had done in his life. He just wished he was good enough to be worthy of this girl who was smart and beautiful and meant for a future he could never imagine being a part of.

He was the one person who really saw her, who knew who she was and who she wanted to be. He saved her life and she owed him everything. She just wished she was the kind of girl he wanted as more than a friend, someone to flirt with, someone to protect.

Boyce Wynn is charming, strong, and sexy as hell. He’s the good guy with a bad boy vibe. With his past, his childhood, his family, his loss, he could have easily turned out like his parents, become the stereotype. But he is honest and hard-working and couldn’t be a better man than he already is.

Pearl Frank is kind and intelligent and loyal and driven. With all that she has been given, the advantages she has, the possibilities she has, the friends she has, she could have easily been someone who pretended her past never existed. But she loves her hometown, her family, her friends and she’s not someone who could walk away from those who did so much for her.

Alternating between Boyce and Pearl’s points of view, Tammara Webber reveals a love story that has been sixteen years in the making. It’s a love story that’s sad and sweet and angst-filled and delectable, full of missed opportunities as well as stolen kisses, secret embraces and steamy encounters.

The author draws readers in by bringing together two unlikely characters – Boyce with his charm, his confidence, his flirty banter and his cheesy yet adorable lines, and Pearl with her quiet reserve, her shyness, her bookish intelligence – and making their connection one readers will want to see grow stronger. She captivates with passages that are filled with heat, others that are beautiful and moving and heartrending, others that are fun and flirty, and others that are nerve-wracking and nail-biting.

SWEET is a fantastic addition to this series that can be read in order, out of order or on its own. It checks all the boxes that readers have come to expect from a New Adult romance – well-developed characters, well-written romance, scorching hot love scenes, conflict, angst, heartbreak, and an ending that wraps things up and leaves no loose ends.

And it delivers so much more – making this a story not to be missed by fans of the genre and readers who enjoy gorgeous writing, memorable characters, breathtaking romance, and love scenes hot enough to make them melt.

This is another book where the description isn't necessarily wrong, but does give the book a completely different impression than what it really is. I don't think Pearl thinks that Boyce is everything she should run from, and I don't think she's restless either. And I really don't even think Boyce is dangerous. I don't know. The description just doesn't fit. Boyce and Pearl go way back. I'm talking...all the way to when she was 5 and he was 7. After they meet at that age, the two have many more experiences together throughout their childhood and teenage years. The thing is, no one else really knows that the two have any connection to each other.

Sweet is told in alternating points of view (Boyce and Pearl) and between memories of the past and moments of the present. I was somewhat frustrated in the beginning because it truly seemed like the majority of the beginning was focused more on the events of the past rather than what was going on with Boyce and Pearl in the present, but it's all to set the stage.

Pearl is anything but restless. She finally feels good about her life decisions and where she's going in her career. She's even standing up to her mother, who she thought would always have her back. One person who does have her back...Boyce. He seems to know her better than anyone else.

Boyce is doing pretty well for himself compared to where we last saw him in Breakable. Even though he grew up with an abusive father, his mother left him and his brother when they were young, and his brother died in the military, Boyce is making something of himself. He's taken lemons and made lemonade. He's taken over the garage that his father owned and has really turned it into a profitable business. He's become responsible. Not dangerous.

Pearl and Boyce have had a connection since they were 5 and 7. They've shared looks, a few kisses, and more in their past. Yet the two don't seem to have a clue what the other wants. It's clear that they both find the other attractive, but neither knows how deep the other's feelings go. I liked watching this relationship build as they had so much history.

The language was much more...colorful...and full of f-bombs than I would have thought. I don't remember the prior books being as bad about this, but it has been a while since I read them. The physical scenes were...well some were fairly tame and others more graphic. Sweet bordered on being a bit much for my preferences.

Favorite quotes:
-Nothing like a high school friend to drag you back to high school behavior.

-"...sometimes what seems like a gut feeling is just pride pretending to be instinct."

-"Nothing makes me feel how small and insignificant I am, how fleeting life is, like the sky and the ocean."..."You want to feel insignificant?" "I want to feel what's true."

I enjoyed the story of Sweet, and I'm glad that Boyce and Pearl got to have their story explored. Some conflict was visible to me from early on, but nothing happened that really had me rolling my eyes at the obvious. And I liked how these two were intertwined and connected from their childhoods yet still so distant until now. Sweet gets 4 Stars. Have you read Sweet? What did you think? Let me know!

Side note: I really hate the name Boyce.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't wait for more from Tammara Webber!

Wow, wow, wow!
I am falling more and more in love with Tammara Webber's writing – one book at a time.
Her latest novel, "Sweet", is an absolutely enthralling page-turner; I read this on my flight from Frankfurt (Germany) to Dallas (TX, USA) earlier this week, and despite several power naps and LOTS of food (seriously, I had never had as much food on a flight before!), I was done with the book before we ever got close to touching down in Texas (I think we were about three hours from Dallas when I turned the last page with a content little sigh). And as much as I hate to admit it – though if you'd been one of the people on my flight, you'd probably already know anyways – this novel actually made me shed a "Sweet" tear or two, much to the confusion of the man sitting behind me. This, however, was not necessarily due to the scenes bearing tragic or sadness, but thanks to the overwhelming cuteness overload that hit me in some of the most unexpected moments.

"Sweet" could have just as well been called “Sweet and Spicey“ – *HOT*, Sweet & Spicey – because the book's like a bucket full of chicken with a side of waffles: all tempting and delicious, sweet and spicey, with Boyce being some serious competition for Lucas Maxfield (the male protagonist of `"Easy" and "Breakable", the first two installments in the "Contours of the Heart" series) in the book-boyfriend department. It really comes as no surprise that Pearl fell in love with Boyce. He is the perfect little (big? Wouldn't wanna deliver an unintended inaccurate pun (-; ) package – a hot bad boy on the outside, and a boy who raised himself right on the inside. Boyce Wynn and Pearl Torres Frank are perfect for one another – they are like two matching puzzle pieces, completing - and bringing out the best in - each other.

This novel is a great example how one moment, one fateful encounter – even if neither one of the two protagonists believes in fate – can change the course of your life forever.

You will meet people who will stay in your life forever, and you will meet people who will only stay for a short while. You will meet people who will care, who will love you, and you will meet people who will inevitably hurt you. You will be around people who will try to influence you to go down a certain path in life, and you will meet those who will support you, your dreams and decisions, no matter what. And you should never settle for less - never settle for the least, the minimum, because you deserve nothing but the best. This is where one of the sweetest parts of the book comes in – the aknowledgements in the back of it. While I absolutely loved the story, the last paragraph of said aknowledgements makes me adore Tammara Webber as a person, and not 'just' a writer, even more than I already had. I'll save you a seat at my 10 authors you'd love to have a teaparty with-table, Tammara!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another marvellous book from Tammara. Now, go read it!

I’ve actually had to wait a few days before writing this review because of how excited I’ve been about this book! This should be of no surprise to you if you’ve read my previous review of Tammara Webber’s Contours of the Heart books, which can be found here, how much I absolutely love this series. Having said this I was slightly skeptical about Sweet as this story follows two new characters that are touched on in Breakable. I am extremely pleased to say that this book did not disappoint, and wiped away all my skepticism!

I could go on and on about how Tammara creates brilliant, relatable, and lovable characters; or how her writing style ensnares her readers; or how her romances are created using a wholeness of character storylines and plot (by this I mean the way in which in Breakable, encompasses Lucas’ whole character story from teenager to adult, and how in Sweet Boyce and Pearl have a bond that can be traced throughout their lives even as they develop as individuals during their times apart) that is extremely impressive – but I’d rather you just went and read the books and experienced this for yourselves.

Although I delighted in Boyce and Pearl’s story I found that their story was slightly less tension filled making it a lighter, but a no less touching story, than the other books in the Contours of the Heart series. There was no real conflict or awful situations to face like those in Easy and Breakable which I actually rather enjoyed in someways. This made the romance story itself rather sweet. However, this could also have meant that the story could have lost some of its depth, but this is Tammara that we are talking about, so fear not, of course Sweet didn’t lose its depth because of her exceptional writing (see above!).

I also, unfortunately, have to agree with the assessment that a few other people have made regarding the event at the ending of the book. For me it wasn’t really necessary to complete the story; however, unlike some people I personally didn’t find that it detracted from the overall story – it just didn’t really add to it either. I have to wonder if the reason Tammara included it was because of the demand for some sort of “tragic” event that is often required in romance stories as to give the readers something to fret over. Admittedly, I did fret for a few pages but ultimately I knew what the outcome was going to be and I would have been outraged if the outcome had of been different. Ultimately, the event is well written and doesn’t detract anything from the story in my opinion so I don’t really have any major qualms about it being there – but that’s just my thought on it.

Simply put this is another marvellous book from Tammara. Now, go read it!

Of all Tammara Webber's books, Easy had always been my favourite (I've read it three or four times), but Sweet has just taken its place. I loved reading this story, and devoured it in one day. I didn't want it to end.

Boyce is one of the most real characters I've come across in a novel, and the first time I've seen a redhead as the male lead. I loved that! He was protective, caring and strong without being overbearing or aggressive. The balance was perfect, and at no point did I question why Pearl would be interested in him (I find myself doing that a lot with the New Adult genre. So many authors seem to think that a guy has to be emotionally abusive/manipulative in order to be hot).

Pearl is really likeable and easy to "get" when it comes to her motivations and the way she relates to the people around her. She was a pleasure to read.

The story developed at the perfect pace for me. It didn't drag anywhere and there were no sections I wanted to skim over. Overall it's just a beautifully put together book.

Would I reread? Absolutely.
Recommend to a friend? Yes!
Is it able to be read as a standalone story? Yes, readers who are new to this series will have no trouble at all figuring out what's going on.
