The Trail Women trekking pole from Black Diamond is a true all-rounder on the hiking trail. The trekking pole has a women specific dual-density grip attachment and a 360° padded strap strap for extra grip and safety, even in rough terrain. The non-slip foam handle extension is particularly practical for crossing slopes. The plates of the stick are interchangeable and thus the trail is easily converted from a summer to a winter stick. Thanks to the FlickLock adjustment system, the trekking poles can be easily adjusted to the desired length. This also resists torsional loads, so that the stick does not collapse unintentionally. As some of the other reviews mentioned, the locking mechanism for the extensions is very strong and so far has not shown any signs of slipping, even when leaned on pretty heavily, but they are a bit challenging to open and close. They are very stiff so you'll need some finger and hand strength to pry them open and close them fully. Certainly not impossible but they don't just snap shut easily. A little bit of an unusual design but I guess I'd rather have a little inconvenience opening/closing if it means strength and security.
The poles seem to be good quality and feel very sturdy (don't bend or feel wobbly at all). I've not had to use them to break a fall but so far don't seem to have any issues with them holding up to pressure. The tips seem solid and grip well. Haven't yet used the larger baskets yet so can't say how those work.
They also just look high quality (not the most important thing but does make me feel like they are worth the money). Overall, a great set of poles for hiking and a great value (much cheaper than sporting goods stores).
The padding and mold of the grip is great, and it allows for a few positions, all comfortable: you can hold it straight on, or move you hand up (without taking off the strap) and palm the top for a little more reach (the top has a lip which makes it easy to grip and a rubber coating which makes it comfortable), or you can temporary remove the strap and hold further down the pole for a short climb. The strap is the most noticable difference between this and cheaper models, I'd vote it is worth it for this as it'll be against your skin the entire time you might as well enjoy it.
The powder baskets worked well when hiking up to Camp Muir on Mount Rainier, they gripped the snow well, and doubled as ski poles while glissading on the way down. It's pretty easy to switch the baskets but it won't come off on its own. They also look really nice and made the rest of my group with their rentals jealous.
I'd definitely recommend purchasing the rubber tip protectors at the same time. These have carbide tips that work well in dirt and snow, but will slip at best and may break at worst on hard rocks/concrete/etc. On the other hand, the tip protectors don't grip well and can't dig in on dirt but work great on rocks.

I use these for hiking, backpacking & climbing the rugged trails of NY's Adirondack Mountains. The thumb lock design is easy to use and does not slip even with maximum force placed upon it. They are light weight and the dual position grips are very comfortable. They collapse and store easily even in a daypack! I added a set of rubber tips which make the poles feel secure and quiet when placed on rock surfaces.
These Black Diamonds surely enhance my hiking pleasure and I do not miss the anti shock feature at all. If you are looking for light weight, easy to use trekking poles, these are definitely worth checking out.
I had them shipped to the person we were staying with so we wouldn't have to pack them in our luggage on the way out west. A few reviews I read confirmed that they would fit in a carry-on when collapsed - which they will if you take them apart. Everything was fine until we tried to get them through security coming home. TSA pulled my bag and the guy told me we couldn't take them through because they could be used as a weapon. He said we could check them and when we asked how he summoned a senior TSA official . She looked at them and said we were ok to take them through! So a word to the wise: You can unscrew the tips with a pliers (also not allowed by TSA). Next time we will remove the tips and render them harmless....maybe send them through the tray or put them in the electronics bag!

One comment I would make is it would be good to include tip protectors or rubber tips, to avoid damage to my bag (or myself if I'm careless).
