Pros:
-Does a great job of isolating sound. I was in a noisy exhibition hall with thousands of people.
-Really good sound quality
-The light is a good (mostly reliable) indicator that the sound is working.
-The gain on the mic is nice.
-The weight is nice, feels solid, almost on par with SM58, E835, etc.
Cons:
-The paint chipped on the microphone.
-The light flashing different colors makes it look cheap in my opinion.
-It didn't work 3 out of 20 times, the light indicated that sound was coming in, but the stream was totally silent. This could be a periscope issue though, not a problem with the mic.
-The pull fell off of the zipper and the zipper itself broke apart on the bag.
-The cable is only 5' long, it doesn't give much room for the interviewer to move around if your phone is on a tripod.
PRO:
[] Easy installation
[] Easy operation
[] Outstanding sound quality and noise cancellation (directional nature of this unit)
[] Well built.
[] USB Cable for PC installation provided (I am NOT a MAC user)
[] Lightning Cable for iPhone/iPad provided.
[] 30 Pin iPhone cable opitonal
[] Nice carry case
CONS:
[] No 3.5 cable for Android phones available. This could be THE universal microphone but the lack of the adapter for Android and Windows phones will prevent this.
This microphone delivers on all accounts and won't disappoint
The mic itself is pretty good. I wish the distance button was the same as it was on the last gen iRig. Im not too fond of this knob because it can easily move while the amateurs I am interviewing are holding it and passing it to each other. Otherwise, it serves its purpose. I just use it to interview people at events, conventions, on the street, etc.
UPDATE: The dial for sound distance is pretty crappy. Unless you have a mic box that covers it, I suggest putting black tape over the dial so people dont move it while shuffling the mic in their hands. At the end of one of my interviews, the knob got moved by the person, and the sound went really low. Luckily, it was towards the end, and I can manage it in editing with something, but it was really annoying.
My voice, singing or speaking, is clear and resonant through it. Even the Skype echo test, to configure it for telephony, left me thinking, "Man, I sound good! That was over a telephone?"
My other "go to" solution for simple home recordings is a Zoom h1 handheld recorder, which should, by the way, never be held in your hands. So I was relieved to learn that handling noise is minimal with this mic. Don't scratch it with your fingernails while you're recording of course (which is hard to do, by the way.) It will pick that up clearly, but your voice will still be clear as well. Any ordinary, careful, incidental handling is generally safe.
I love the fact that I get a 24 bit sample depth. Using the Zoom has spoiled me on this point, so I was not going to get a USB mic that produced only a 16 bit sample. I am seeing that it means less at home, but it is indispensable for field recording. Ironically, when I configure the Zoom as a USB mic, it only delivers a 16 bit sample.
The only real problem I found was the clip for a mic stand. The mic handle is quite fat, so it comes with a clip built to accommodate it. But it was not built for my mic stand. I had to sacrifice a perfectly good clip for parts to create a "Franken-clip" which would fit both my mic stand and this mic. But that's a pretty small concern in general and that small job is in the past.
This Mic plugs into your iPhone using a Lighting cable to Micro USB, it also has a Micro USB to Micro USB cable included in the box incase you wish to use it with an Android phone.
There is an adapter that will hold the cable in place so you don't need to worry about pulling it out away from the Mic when doing an interview. It also comes with a nice leather carrying bag.

It does not disappoint. I use mine with an iPhone 6, and the ALON Dictaphone app (a couple of £). I can now happily read, take notes via the phone and the files are uploaded to dropbox for later transcription with Dragon naturally speaking. The sound is crystal clear, and picks up no background noise whatsoever. If you have an iPhone 5 or above (for the newer connector), get one. For info, it also comes with a USB cable, though I haven't tried that out, and a clip if you want to attach it to a mike stand. A very sound purchase.
