I am a user of mason jars of all sizes for dry and fresh food storage and do not like the waste of using the two piece lids. With these plastic tops, I can easily store food with an airtight seal that is food safe, re-usable and dishwasher safe. This set was a better price bargain than buying them individually as I needed both sizes. I also do a lot of canning and I use the required tops to do so, but once the jars are opened, the plastic seals allow you to have a cleaner top that you can open and close easily until your canned food is all used. Love these caps!

Nothing wrong with reusing the lids and rings from mason jars, until I bought a few of these lids on sale at the store. LOVE THEM. Came to amazon to buy more in both sizes. This is a good -- wide mouth and regular mouth sizes -- because to be honest, I don't need THAT many lids at one time! These are great for re-using the jars... no more little lid falling off or rusty rings for daily use. This is a solid lid. Keep the metal rings and flat lids for the canning process, but use these once open. Little raised ridge on the sides helps with grip. I wash in the dishwasher. This is one of those things you don't "need" but will be so glad you have.

These were a reorder, because we like these so much we needed more. Not only is it handy that these lids are only one-part (rather than the two-part flat lids and rings); I like that they're plastic so I don't have to worry about rust. These are not for canning (you need the original style lids for that), but for storage. They're quick and easy on and off, and easy to clean.

We use so many of them I'd run out and needed extras. With sticky things like honey, especially, they seem to be easier to use than metal lids. They don't gum up as easily or something (and if I need to I just wash them). We also get milk from a local farm that fills our own bottles. We've been using the same package of lids for at least a year, probably more like 2-3 years, and we only just now had ONE lid crack last week. So they've held up pretty well to heavy use, in the pantry, refrigerator, and even freezer.

I cannot stress how handy these lids are! Now I no longer have to use the canning rings and lids if I want to store any food in mason jars that are only used for storage not canning. In the past, any canned items once opened, were stored in the fridge reusing the seal and rings used when the items were canned. Although that does work, the rings tend to rust from the moisture of the food and the fridge. These look so much nicer and work so well. They are dishwasher safe and easy to hand wash as well. If you give homemade soups, mixes etc as gifts, these lids easily close the jars for decorating. Also it is easy to identify jars that have been canned and sealed from those that are just being used for storage.

I also have the cheap colorful knock-offs and the threads don't match and they don't catch and they're just awful, but these (I have 2 sizes) all work like you want them to. No, they're not 100% leak proof but I knew that going in and they're not what I need them for. I brew a lot of iced tea in huge mason jars and just wanted lids to close the jars. I never tip it on the side or anything so the fact that they're not 100% leak proof doesn't bother me in any way. I would buy these again.

These are perfect for storing dry goods or using ball jars in the freezer. I enjoyed being able to put salad combinations in my ball jars I also freeze as well as can soup but I feel like I'm wasting the metal lids when I'm freezing. I didn't experience the leakage that others did but I can say that these will not seal like the metal lids so it's something to keep in mind. You must refrigerate or freeze items that would need the vacuum seal (apple sauce, soup, tomato sauce etc). Overall it's a good deal, 10 bucks for both the standard and the wide mouth. Great for situations where you don't want to waste a steel lid.

We have been using these caps since we found out about them a few years ago and have never had a problem with them . Some people say that they have problems with them leaking , We have not had to do this yet but they say to put the caps in hot water right before you put them on and tighten them down and when they cool off they will contract ( shrink ) a little and seal tighter. Other than that both small cap box and large cap box were crushed and not by shipping but the lids were still ok.
