Used it on a pantry I built and before long I had all my holes drilled, all in the right spots. I like how it works either against a piece or on the edge of.
So simple to use. Set the stop collar on the drill bit, there is a gauge on the back of this jig to maker it easy. Put it where you want to put the holes and drill. Need more, just insert the index pin and move the jig to the next set. You could drill holes forever.
Even though it's plastic, it seems to be very tough plastic. And with the metal insets for drilling the holes, this one is sure to last longer than me. It even comes with a connector to you can connector more than one jig.
I also like how everything stores under the jig, well almost everything. There is a place to hole the drill bit and indexing pin. Only thing I could not find a spot for is the Allen key to tighten the stop collar on the drill bit. Did they forget? Not a biggie.
Only thing I noticed, I did not get the cleanest holes. Don't know if it's the bit or the plywood, or both. Course that will be covered with the pins and shelves anyways.
Sure you could make your own shelf pin hole jig, but why, for this price it's hardly worth your time making something from scratch.
Very happy with my purchase, would buy again.

I need to make a painting drying rack for some 11 x 14 inch paintings and this jig was just want I needed. I bought the 1/4 inch pin size and bought some 1/4 inch dowels from Home Depot that I cut into 1 foot lengths. The 32mm spacing of the holes from the jig is perfect and my drying rack is exactly what I needed.
What I like best about this jig is the steel guide holes for drilling. They will not wear and them align the drill bit perfectly for 90 degree holes. The locating pin and side guide keeps the line of holes uniform and straight, no matter how long the rows need to be.
If a lot of long runs are needed, multiple jigs can be fastened together.
This is the best Shelf Pin Drilling Jig on the market in my opinion, and there are a lot of applications it can be used for other than shelf pins. I looked over the design of the other jigs on Amazon and the steel guide hols on the Kreg Jog are what make it the best.
Cons: the built in depth gauge for the collar/bit is possibly bang on but only if you get lucky on how you orient the bit. Be sure to drill a test hole to ensure depth is good because having to go back and redrill for that extra half millimeter can make the holes sloppy. Ask me how I know.
There’s no built in place to store the hex key. What the heck? I used painters tape which in gimmicky but functional.
Overall, well worth the cost and I’d do it again for sure. If you’re just doing a small project you’re not going to experience a huge time savings by getting two of these things and connecting them together. Some time savings, yes, but not enough (as i!see it) to justify doubling the expense.
Like most everything Kreg produces, it is well designed. There is storage on the back where you can store both the bit and the locating pin. There is even a depth collar positioner built into the jig. It is also made so that you can buy two and connect them together for longer hole runs, but with the included locating pin, it is really easy to maintain registry between holes. You would have to be drilling hundreds of holes a day to make it worth the cost of buying two.
I read one negative review that said the hole distance from the end of the jig was different from one end to the other. That would be a problem if you turned the jig 180 degrees from the left side to the right side of cabinet. I also read negative reviews about missing drill bits and locator pins. The jig I received did not suffer from those problems. So, I don't know how to comment other than to say mine had everything promised plus four small screws that are not listed on the package. I'd can't figure out why they included the extra screws.
Top reviews from other countries
Using the jig is quite straightforward. I found that I needed to go back over the holes a second time with the drill bit (in18mm ply) to clean up the holes. The pins were very tight as there was some tear out from the initial cut.
The accuracy of the jig and holes was good enough for my shelving units. If you were making kitchen cabinets, you'd need to spend more time taking a reference to ensure all holes were aligned.
While you can store the drill bits and guides within jig, the connector piece, screws, and allen key cannot be stored. This might be an annoyance for some as those parts could be easy to lose.
Overall another good product from Kreg.

I wasn't sure how to drill the holes evenly and precisely, though, and didn't want to make a mess of the mahogany veneer. I wasn't initially aware that this drilling rig existed until a friend who is a hobbyist cabinetmaker told me about it.
It works beautifully, it's intuitive to use, and it's extremely durable (even though made of plastic). I'm kinda afraid to tell my friends about it and lend it out, because I'll never get it back!
