Bought this as a present for Christmas for my 9 year old son. He was so elated when he opened it Christmas morning, his joy was short lived just about after 3hours of use. The first sets of take offs were bumpy by nature as this was his first time and he was feeling out the toy and getting the hang of operating if, after which all of his landings were gentle and controlled. The copter has stopped taking lift, the propellers are turning, however the toy is spinning in circles on the floor and not taking elevation. Why would a toy that is designed for "crashing" be so sensitive? As a parent when I saw it, I thought to myself, Oh boy! I give this until January 31, 2015 to still be operational as it seemed rather flimsy...rather fragile but not for a moment did I suspect that it would stop functioning the very same day only a few hours after opening!!! My son is disappointed to say the least....

My son saw this on television and requested one for his birthday. I came online and ordered it for his fifth birthday. I was kind of skeptical because many reviews say that it breaks quickly. My older boys (seven and five) have been using it for two weeks and although they are still learning to control it the little toy has taken a good beating but is still going strong. They have dropped it from high up in the stairs and my two year old has tossed it a few times, the toy has not broken. I think the outer cage does a good job in protecting the helicopter. The only drawback is that it goes through batteries quickly, worth investing in rechargeables. I do recommend this toy, even my 34 year old husband has fun playing with it, overall it is a winner at our home.

My grandson who usually has the helicopter a couple days is still going strong. This is a great toy for even the kids who are hard on toys, and so much fun. It does just what it says it will do.

In some respects this is better than the blade scout since it can be bumped into things and even if a child uses the remote they won't hurt it or other items in the house, but it doesn't have the same control as a remote control helicopter. I can also say that my young son definitely prefers to watch the blade scout over this. For the money, though, I'd say it's better than most toys.
