A true hi-fi multi-functional sound system with a classic design statement

Geneva Sound System Model L is the system that convinced audio critics to declare the arrival of a design that finally "lifts the iPod into the realms of hi-fi status." (Record Collector, UK). The first in the world to fuse an iPod/iPhone connector to a high-end system, the Model L has two full-sized speakers, a premium amplifier, radio, and CD player, to make a true hi-fi multi-functional sound system.

Engineered to ensure exceptional sound delivery

From the Swiss firm that invented hi-fi for the iPod, the Geneva Sound System Model L is a complete stereo system crafted in a single cabinet made out of glossy lacquered wood. Despite its compact design, Model L is engineered in a similar way as traditional studio speakers, which ensures exceptional sound delivery from the deepest bass to crystal clear highs.

Visually, Geneva is a classic design statement. But beyond its striking simplicity, Geneva's clean lines embody an advanced acoustical array that's won the highest marks from leading audio reviewers.

All-In-One Sound System

Geneva Sound Model L features two full-range 5.25" woofers and two 1" tweeters, driven by four Class D digital amplifiers that are extremely efficient, with low power consumption. Each speaker is individually powered and chambered for accurate acoustics. Two bass ports with dynamic loudness provide surprising punch for such a small system. Add an optional floor stand in satin nickel (sold separately) for more versatile placement and a showpiece quality.

The Model L can dock and charge virtually any model of iPod, iPod nano, iPod touch, iPhone, and iPad. Dock adapters are included to fit your device.

In addition to playing your favorite iPod or iPhone tunes, the Model L includes an FM radio, a slot-loading CD player as well line-in jacks (3.5. mm stereo mini or stereo RCA) that allow connection to any external source, from TVs to turntables.

LED Display

An LED display shows volume, mode, track, and frequency information. The digital FM radio features six presets to store your favorite stations with control via the included IR remote control.

What's in the Box

Geneva Sound Model L, remote control, iPod Dock Adapters (7 pieces), AC power cable, external FM wire antenna, 3.5mm adapter cable for stereo line-in, 3m RCA line-in cable, warranty.

Top reviews from the United States

Just received it this afternoon. Purchased as a birthday gift. Birthday is tomorrow, Sat.. Unit won't even turn on. (It is getting power/proper voltage as I've tested that at the female end of the cord).
Very frustrating to have paid $1,000.00+ for such a poor quality item. Adding to my frustration is a complete lack of support information at the Geneva website or in the included manual.

I had high hopes for this item based on reviews. Unfortunately, the best thing about it was its snazzy packaging--I mean the sturdy boxes it came in. Now the not so good:

First, it looks like a microwave oven and while trying to achieve B&O-type design simplicity instead just looks like a microwave oven (which is fine if that's what you want).

Second, the sound lacks definition. There's plenty of volume, but it sounds muffled. Probably fine if you're listening with cochlear implants.

Finally, the FM radio seemed to be an afterthought and didn't pick up a single station ... not that anyone listens to FM radio anymore anyway.

I returned the product after trying to like it for over a month (Amazon charged me a couple of hundred bucks for the privilege, but it was worth it to get this fuzzy sounding microwave oven off my shelf).

==UPDATE==
Eighteen months later I now notice the manufacturer's response to my review. 1. Thanks for caring enough to read and respond. 2. All the cheerleading reviews in the world won't change the fundamentally muddy character of this unit's sound. 3. Affinity for a particular aesthetic is personal and some may appreciate the Amana Radar Range school more than I. This is acknowledged in my original review.

Here is how I solved the docking station equation in this instance: 1. Purchased the KEF Picoforte-1 for about $130 then 2. added a Polk Audio PSW10 10-Inch Monitor Series Powered Subwoofer ($100). The Kef doesn't charge newer model iPods, but system sounds considerably better than the Geneva.

i recently had to downsize my stereo. I didnt want to sacrifice sound so i did a ton of research and stumbled upon this and the ferguson hill speakers. the fact is that they dont sell the ferguson hill speakers that i wanted in the states, however the geneva delivers all that it promises to be sound, style, and size. Its the best for the money on Amazon.

This unit has a great sound, until it doesn't! Their service is pathetic and I would not purchase any of their products again.

Previously, in my search for the ultimate "all-in-one" sound system, I purchased the B&W Zeppelin and Bose Sounddock 10 and put them head to head in my own home. The B&W zeppelin was the clear the winner of that comparison with clear natural sound that really brought out the beauty of recorded music. The Bose had more volume capability and slightly more bass in the lowest registers, but it struggled to bring out the tone, accuracy and depth of the Zeppelin and my refence system, consisting of Full range Dynaudio Towers and NAD amplification. Of course this led me to wonder if there were any other systems out there that could be better yet. This led to me to Geneva. The Geneva line of systems has been out for several years, but I had never listened to them before. Geneva has systems of various sizes ranging from S to XXL, and I went with one right in the middle, the L. When I received my Geneva L, I was immediately impressed with the packaging and the fit and finish of the product. The glossy paint was perfect and the system integrated perfectly with the brushed metal stand, an optional piece from Geneva. It was very easy to operate. I opened the wooden flap on top of the unit, plugged in my Ipod, and powered the system on. Within minutes I was listening to my playlist. Now it was time to see what this thing could do. I already had a playlist of about 50 songs encoded from my CD collection in apple lossless. This is the same list of songs that I used to evaluate my home reference system, the B&W Zeppelin and Bose Sounddock 10. I then played about 50 hours of music and full bandwidth pink noise through the system in order to break it in. I can't stress enough how much the sound changes in all of these systems during the break in process, the Geneva most of all. After listening to my playlist on the Geneva L, I was truly amazed. The sound was simply fantastic. It has the clarity and tonal excellence of the B&W with overall volume capability and deep bass that surpassed both systems. There were a couple of trouble tracks, such as Joss Stone's "Less is More" and Jack Johnson's "Taylor," which caused the Zeppelin to exhibit port noise and some loss of coherency. The Geneva L played both of those songs beautifully, at high volume, without issue. The overall impact of this system was something that completely took me off guard. Listening to these systems side by side also showed how much deeper the sound stage of the Geneva L was. In fact it projected a sound image that was nearly as wide and deep as my reference system. The Geneva did appear to have less punch with very low volume listening which may be due to less dynamic loudness in the DSP. I also very much enjoyed listening to CD's and FM radio which is all included with the Geneva L. It became obvious to me very quickly as I was comparing the Geneva to other Ipod docks that this was not really apples to apples. First, this is a more expensive product at $999, but it was also a lot more than an Ipod Dock. With CD, FM, ipod and such full range sound, the Geneva was the first system that I consider a true stereo replacement, and could easily be the primary music system in my home. It really has the sound quality, dynamics, and imaging of full size stereo system in one sleek unit with a single single power cord. This system is a unique product is an excellent value for all that it can do, and I look forward to enjoying it for some time to come. I hope this helps anyone who is on the eternal quest for an "all-in-one" system that really can do it all.

I bought the Large white Geneva Sound System about 3 years ago when I first saw the product at a "Design Within Reach" store and was truly impressed with its ability to fill a large room with very high quality sound. I was also attracted by the Geneva's modern minimalist design and clean lines that complement just about any kind of room. From a functionality standpoint, the operation & initial hook-up could not be easier. I have now had the Geneva L in two different apartments ranging from 600 to 1000 sq feet and it has plenty of power to spare. I think there have been some improvements to the functionality since my version but the only suggestions I would have would be to add a bit more functionality option onto the box itself (ie: the ability to change source from CD to radio to ipod from the flip panel as opposed to only being able to do this from the remote). I think the FM receiver could be improved upon slightly as well and having the option to store more stations than 6 would be nice. Again, i think some of these improvements have already been made. Overall, I have not heard or seen another compact music system that even comes close to the sound quality of the Geneva line. Do yourself a favor and at least go listen to one, which will be the best way to convince yourself as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Gutes Gerät mit korrigierbaren Schwächen
Reviewed in Germany on May 4, 2011
